Priest Explains How Amoris Laetitia Was Really Written to ‘Normalize’ Homosexuality
LifeSite News ^ | 5/14/18

Editor's note: This analysis has been written by a priest who asked that it be published anonymously over concern of being disciplined for raising concerns about a papal document.

May 14, 2018 (LifeSiteNews) – I said it right from the beginning, when Amoris Laetitia was first published, with its infamous Chapter 8 that allows individual conscience to trump objective moral law and thus effectively eliminate the notion of intrinsic moral evil: The real issue is not Holy Communion for the divorced and civilly remarried. After all, Pope Francis had already streamlined the annulment process, to allow declarations of nullity which were generally easy to attain, to be even easier. The real issue is all about sodomy, and normalizing — even blessing — this behavior called by the Catechism “intrinsically disordered.” In what follows, I’ll try to “connect the dots” in order to clarify the bigger picture.

Recall that no. 50 of the first draft of the document for the first synod on the family in October, 2014 stated that, “Homosexuals have gifts and qualities to offer the Christian community,” and then asked if our communities are “capable of . . . accepting and valuing their sexual orientation” – implying those who practice homosexual behaviors have special “gifts and qualities” over and above everyone else, and that their same-sex attraction — called by the Catechism “objectively disordered” — should be “accepted and valued.” (1)

Although this language never appeared in Amoris Laetitia (AL), the fact that it was inserted into a preliminary working document with Pope Francis’s approval and was then read to the assembled bishops in his presence, is most telling. This language provides a key to understand how Chapter 8 of AL has been interpreted, so as to allow not only those in second civil marriages (and committing adultery) to.......

The Bible said that homosexuality is an abomination. Just because some priests prey on young girls and/or boys does not make it right.

I figured all along the real issue was not couples who had previous marriages and were divorced. I imagined at first they would try to make it about compassion for previously married straight couples. As soon as the Church waffled on that it would be 100% about gay this, gay that, gay everything, including gay priests and “marrying” gay couples.

There is clearly a faction, of uncertain size, among the Latin Church clergy which is desperate to come out and openly declare their homosexuality and to declare that it is good.

It is interesting that this has not emerged as an issue in Orthodoxy.

My own view is that the number of heterosexual men called to celibacy is insufficient to sustain a celibate-only clergy. In Orthodoxy, pastors can be selected from among married men, and the number of bishops, being much smaller, can be achieved from among the much smaller group of those gifted with celibacy.

Well, contracepting families have been a factor in the decline of priestly vocations. The late great Justice Scalia, himself the father of priest, explained that in a family with a lot of kids (like his) it’s not as hard to get a son to “take one for the team.” In a family with 1 or 2 kids, priestly vocations are more likely to be discouraged.

You must remember that Catholic priests are called to imitate Jesus Christ not Peter.

Romans 1:18-32

I keep coming back to that because we are seeing it everywhere. The Lord’s return cannot be far away given all this falling away.

Remember what He asked His disciples, and how they responded, after many others had departed: will you leave too?

Our answer should be the same: Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of life.

Even in Sardis there were those who had not soiled their garments.

There is always a remnant.

Never compromise with the world to get along. Friendship with the world is enmity to God. That even means resisting changing your mind about truth, righteousness, good and evil should members of your family whom you love fall into debauchery.

Stand firm. You wouldn’t play around with lit dynamite, right?

I’ve been watching this creeping, perverse element grow and push itself on the laity for 40 years. I am finally becoming enraged at this brutal misuse of people’s loving natures.

“Is there not so much positive and good and right so that we have to be more just?”

No! Just the opposite, this illness destroys lives, including those who have the sickness. There is no benefit to anyone, religious or otherwise. It’s an insidious disease that progresses like a parasite in the victim and then onto others.

Right, the decline in vocations is complex and has many roots.

Lots of heterosexual priests “came out” in the 1960s and 1970s by getting married (often to female religious), which act terminated their service.

This increased the PROPORTION of priests for whom forgoing marriage to a woman was not a sacrifice.

Yet, Roman Catholics claim Peter is supposed to be the "Vicar of Christ"....and he was married.

Seems like Roman Catholicism, as it almost always does, places an extra unnecessary burden upon its priests.

Rome should be in compliance with the NT and allow the priests to marry.

The fact is that when the Church ever veered in the direction of married priests they always had to pull it back and bring in celebrate monks to fix the problems that always cropped up. They found through experience that a priest needs to be dedicated to Jesus and his ministry exclusively. That is why in the Orthodox church a married priest cannot become a bishop.

There is something really beautiful about a man who dedicates himself exclusively in such a way. Like JPII.

I could see that.

Though I personally suspect that the real motive is to attract divorced and civilly remarried Catholics back to the collection basket.

As it stands most don’t wish to go through the hassle and humiliation of an annulment. So they leave and join another church. Usually a large Evangelical church, where they TITHE!!

This, I am certain, is driving the Vatican nuts.
Woodward and Bernstein were right. Follow the Money.

As opposed to the "smooth sailing" the RCC is enjoying today??

Marriage seemed to serve the early NT church well with Paul, Peter and others being married.

Jesus wasn't married. Shouldn't his example be the ideal?

John, the beloved disciple, wasn't married either. Doesn't his example count?

Paul says flatly in 1 Cor that celibacy is the superior state.

True Jesus wasn’t married and yes we should try to be like him. Following your train of thought no one will get married.

Do we know for sure John wasn’t married?

Rome can require their priests to not be married. However, they should allow a man to marry if he desires for that is also allowed by the Scriptures.
