Repeal of the Eighth Amendment is not compassionate. It is cruel. It gives licence for murder, Dr Ali Selim of the Islamic Cultural Centre in Dublins Clonskeagh has said. Abortion without restriction up to 12 weeks was abortion for no reason, he said.
Bearing in mind their difficult circumstances, the Eighth Amendment protects pregnant women against taking a hasty decision, he said. The right decision is the decision that one takes when one is not under pressure of any type. That said the womens social, psychological and economic concerns during pregnancy should be addressed urgently, he said.
Terms have been hijacked, he said. The pro-abortion campaign argues that deciding to continue or to end a pregnancy is a personal and a private decision and should be taken in the context of an individuals unique life circumstances, he said.
On the contrary, abortion can never be deemed a personal or a private decision since it has serious societal repercussions. This country, like many other parts of Europe, is in need of young generations; otherwise, we will be an old nation, he said.
Ireland votes to remove constitutional ban on abortion by resounding two-thirds majority How the Yes and No sides won and lost the abortion referendum
Numerous studies have already concluded that the EUs population is likely to shrink in the coming decades because of prolonged periods of relatively low fertility rates. This falling number of children and young people in the total population could result in labour market shortages.
How can it be progressive when it is going to affect and transform the shape and the structure of our society and be a fundamental factor in creating serious economic issues?
Legislation for abortion will make it even worse. This situation will affect sustainable economic growth and social life models such as pensions and healthcare services, he said.
Claims that repeal of the Eighth Amendment would be progressive and compassionate were false, he said.
How can it be progressive when it is going to affect and transform the shape and the structure of our society and be a fundamental factor in creating serious economic issues? It will contribute to marking a transition towards a much older population structure, a development that is already apparent in several EU member States.
As a greater proportion of generation reaches retirement, those of working age will have to carry the burden to provide for the social expenditure required for a range of related services by the ageing population, he said.
In cases of rape the compassionate and progressive approach is to legislate for minimising this crisis, he said. No one shall kill the innocent, he said.
What Dr Ali Selim said is morally true and civilizationally important.
Class, discuss.
Probably a sheep in ravening wolf clothing but it is Ireland’s problem at this point, not mine.
Muslim women in Ireland won't be getting abortions.
I divorced myself from Ireland (as the daughter of Irish immigrants) long ago. Ireland has been losing Catholics to the trendy, sexy, EU atheism movement for at least 15-20 years now. I have no sympathy for them. I do have sympathy for the babies, though, who will die in agony while drunken block parties continue...
Well, a stopped clock is right twice a day.
How ironic, a muslim showing concern for women.
Didn’t care for the socialist pitch near the end.
Here, we see two enemies of civilization, Islam and the political left.
One of them comes off looking much worse than the other in this exchange.
Indeed. The stupidity of the west never fails to not surprise me.
It is infinitely significant to save one life.
Whether there’s a taxpayer-funded safety net for the elderly or not, the younger generation always has to support the older generation. Even if you have to take grandma into your house.
It’s the sixties and the seventies all over again just a couple of generations later. We still, have not freed ourselves of the disastrous ideas of the sixties.
The stupidity of the West? Thinking themselves wise they became fools.
It's depressing. Perhaps I should say it's amazing they held out so long.
I love Irish music, all of it. I hugely appreciate the UCD (University College Dublin) Choral Scholars´ gloriously-voiced videos on YouTube. I learned they (or the constituency where they vote) went even more overwhelmingly Pro Culture of Death than the rest of the country.
I find I can´t listen to them anymore without crying.
Yeah, but the Irish will and it will only accelerate because people are soooooo concerned with worst case scenarios they’ll turn a blind eye to anything.
Cultural suicide through infanticide is a “sacrament” of the unholy Left.
May as well put up idols to Molech.
A couple of years ago they went overboard for the gay marriage vote. I saw some stories about that and it showed the use of overwhelming, over the top glitzy propaganda which swept the Irish off their feet. They will use it to push multiculturalism and anything else that they want. They have a formula, all they have to do is use it over and over.
Your reference to Molech,,,I have sometimes wondered how cultures have fallen into practicing such horrible and evil behavior. I wonder if we are beginning to see how it happens as a descent into barbarism.
Moloch and Mammon. Hand in hand.
This is something you don't even need special supernatural revelation for. Love for our offspring can be felt, felt! in our bones and the palms of our hands and our wombs and our blood. It's baked in. It's the the natural wisdom that tells the Mother Bear, "Don't let anybody mess with your cubs." It's the voice that tells the Mother Wolf, "Yes, lick and nuzzle and and feed those beautiful pups."
How can we be less kindly than wolves?
I don't understand how the Isle on Saints and Scholars could turn so stupid. One stupido maximo even said that Ireland would now, because of this glorious vote, be so much more tolerant, more inclusive. Inclusive? Really?
`
`
`
....Everybody for 'inclusive,' raise your hand.
A free-fornication society needs infanticide. A clan society like Islam, not so much: the kids are kin regardless of irregularities, and therefore, they have the possibility of being an asset to the clan.
It’s the same buzzwords everywhere—”tolerant” and “inclusive”. Repeat, repeat and repeat until the public are in a cult like trance,
