Married priests are not contrary to dogma. Women priests are. There is a practical consideration, too. When women enter the hierarchy the men melt away from the congregation. Men assume that is what the wives take care of and the men leave it o the women.I see that work in small with altar girls. Many boys who would as a matter of course be altar boys don’t want to do that. They don’t play with dolls, either.
The RCC has a tradition of married priests in the Eastern Rites and Anglican Usage Rite.
