I don’t recall seeing your screen name on these threads before. I think you probably need to make yourself a bit more familiar with what really DOES go on here. OPEN Religion Forum threads can get heated and your beliefs can be challenged. If you don’t have the temperament to deal with that without getting defensive, then you might want to stick to Catholic Caucus (there are a pile of them every day).

Have a nice evening.

I can absolutely guarantee you, I will NEVER swim the Tiber. 😁🤣 I am supremely satisfied with that.

Yep, me neither! I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him until that day.

Seems to me, someone wrote a gospel hymn about that. 😁

Like maybe this one ? 😇

My faith believes she conceived as a Virgin and remained a virgin. I’ll defend my reasons and you’re free to reject them.

Ok; let's hear your reasons.  I'm always open to chapter and verse evidence.

So, I ask again - what does it matter to you whether they did or did not have marital relations? How does it affect your salvation and your relationship with God?

You keep insisting on a tangent here.

May I ask the same, exact question of you?

WHY is it necessary that Rome stresses it's TRADITION over what it's Book plainly states?

Archbishop Naumann confirmed the Church’s teaching on contraception as a moral evil, as well as Church teaching that each and every conjugal act must be open to life.

I'd be interested in seeing the little rulebook given to Catholic couples when they wed.

Does the Catholic bible have Song of Solomon in it??

Matthew 1:18-25 Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit. And her husband Joseph, being a just man and unwilling to put her to shame, resolved to divorce her quietly.

But as he considered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet: “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which means, God with us). When Joseph woke from sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him: he took his wife, but knew her not until she had given birth to a son. And he called his name Jesus.

Luke 2:1-7 In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. This was the first registration when Quirinius was governor of Syria. And all went to be registered, each to his own town.

And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.

Jesus was Mary's FIRSTBORN son and Matthew tells us that they came together after Jesus was born.

So, I ask again - what does it matter to you whether they did or did not have marital relations? How does it affect your salvation and your relationship with God?

It doesn't.

So why do Catholics get their knickers in such a knot over the thought that Mary was a normal human being given by God a fantastic assignment, and then when the scripture was fulfilled, she and Joseph went on to enjoy a normal marriage that included sex and a passel of other children?

The issue isn't so much of whether she had normal relations with Joseph, her husband. If Scripture told us as much, that Mary and Joseph never came together, then it wouldn't be a problem at all.

The issue is that Scripture tells us one thing, that they did, and Catholicism tells us something completely contrary to it, that they didn't.

And Catholicism has ZERO Scripture to support their claim.

Catholicism is wrong because it doesn't line up with Scriptural teaching. When something that is not true is taught as truth and then infallibly declared to have to be believed by the faithful, then you guys have a problem.

Abstinence is OK.

Yeah, if you're a priest. Or as the Catholics believe, for Mary and Joseph.
