As a practicing Protestant I always yet have to bow to the divine humility that kept the chain of faith from generation to generation alive through ages of church officialdoms that were positively terrible and wrongheaded.

Complaining about a split is a bit late when the Catholic/Orthodox opened that door well before any Reformer. If an event doesn’t nudge everyone closer to the Lord, it was in vain. C. S. Lewis was a modern who noticed the commonalities in Christendom over the differences.

The Catholic Church has “zillions” in property——all could, and should,be sold and used to help the needy.

We taxpayers are fools.

I’ve often noted that the most sincere congregations of Christendom were the ones of modest means. The love of riches brings temptation and a trap.

What would a second reformer want to do with the resources? Christian artwork should stay under Christian keeping if possible, and that’s most of the physical church wealth. But maybe it could be exhibited in museums which would collect funds for alms.
