The Hebrew word used for day, in Genesis, has multiple meanings. There is no way to tell which meaning God meant, since the word day, (Yom), has multiple meanings.

We are one in agreement on this one. Sometimes one needs to invoke Titus 3:9 to stuff like this.

I am a creationist evolutionist. I firmly believe in a God that created Earth.

I tend to agree, as it appears to me that God made Adam long after he created man.

It's really quite simple to me. I believe God. In Genesis, God says it took 6 days and He rested on the 7th. In Exodus 20, He again backs that statement up and cut it in stone. How can Jesus be the second Adam if the first was an ape. Peter tells us that "one day" to God is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as a day, meaning the earth will have 6 thousand years of existence and God will return on the 7th 1000 years to rule and reign on earth.

The truth is, if the Bible is NOT reliable from Gen 1 to Rev 22, then how can we consider it reliable when a woman gets pregnant without a man, a man lives a perfect sinless life, He is killed on a cross that was predicted thousands of years earlier, and then rose alive from his grave? How did the sun stand still for 3 hours? How does a donkey talk? There are a thousand more reasons that you must either believe or not believe. Unbelief is a problem with God. You can call yourself a believer, but what you have really done is carve out an idol that you worship that has nothing to do with the God of the Bible. If you say you are a Christian, yet don't believe what your Bride Groom tells you, then you have "taken the Lord's name in vain". It has nothing to do with filthy language.

Jesus died for all sin and took care of that question for all time. Our Job is to have faith. It is unbelief that sends you to hell. We still ogle people's behavior and judge them by their fruit. If you continue to sin, you don't believe God and lack faith. Grace is there for all. It has been made plain that we are no longer under the law, but you must have faith. A person, as an example, might think homosexuality is fine because the SCOTUS has approved it, yet they still call themselves a Christian. Scripture has made it plain what God thinks about it. He considers it an abomination. So there is "separation" from God for this person. Rebellion is what started all of this in Genesis.

God has made it plain that our ways are not His ways, and His ways are higher than our ways.

Now go to Romans 1:18-32. God tells us there that NOT believing God was Creator is why we were given over to a reprobate mind. What is the first sign of a reprobate mind? Men lying with men and women exchanging their natural use. The problem was they thought themselves "wise", but were actually foolish.

So we have people like this fellow calling themselves Christian, yet calling God a liar, because he is afraid someone will think he is foolish and he wants to seem wise. God said He would use the foolish things for salvation. Speaking to non believers will almost always produce a statement like,"I don't believe a virgin can get pregnant", or "The whole world could not have flooded", and "I've never seen a man rise from the dead." Most of this comes from the general statements made about Genesis 1 being a lie. By removing God from school and denying prayer, we have substituted fantasies about billions of years for what God has clearly told us. When Scripture asks, "Is there anything to hard for God", that's either true or false. If God can create with His voice, and breathe life into molded clay by His breath, then why does He need millions of years to do anything? Christians that believe God controlled the billions of years to create are fooling themselves and trying to be double minded. You will love one and hate the other.

Back to Romans 1 again, He is saying that denying God as Creator has caused school shootings and everybody has become homosexual. We have men not knowing what sex they are and others seem to accept that idiocy. A reprobate mind means we have all lost our ability to think straight. Things like Islam is the religion of peace when it clearly states they are to kill all Jews and Christians. Picture a lamb walking up to a wolf and wanting to play and frolic in a field. We have all lost our ability to think like God. People take polls to figure out what we should think. If 85% of people want legal abortion, it's still murder. Verse 32 in Romans 1 tells us that even if you don't do these listed sins, you are guilty of them if you approve of them. If you vote Democrat, you have accepted their platform. You are guilty of abortion, sodomy, the removal of God from America, etc.

We are in a spiral downward and God knows it and has given a timetable of 6000 years to repent before He comes back. If you believe we have been here millions of years, then there is no timetable and again, God is a liar. Do you believe Daniel's 70 weeks? Do you believe letters to Thessalonians? How about Mathew 24 and 25? This makes belief very hard because there is more written about the "Last Days", "Jacob's Troubles", and the "Day of the Lord" than even the first coming of Jesus. The Leviticus 23 Feast Days tell the whole timeline of God, but we follow the pagan feasts of Babylon and are confused. Is there enough proof in Scripture that it is true? The book of Daniel is even accused of being written later in time because of it's accuracy. Following the tribes forming after the Flood is accurate today. If God says Jacob I have loved and Esau I have hated, then we see the descendants of Esau living in war and starvation even with oil, gold, and diamonds in their lands, and Israel booming with nothing in Israel, maybe Israel is supernaturally blessed and the spirits of Edomites supernaturally cursed.

The point is, all the answers have been given to God's people in Scripture. Your ability to believe what he has told us is determinate of our judgement "In That Day". When I became "Born Again", I believe every jot and tittle written and thank God for revealing His wisdom to me. There will be 6000 years of history and then Jesus will come to earth to rule and reign. These will be biblical years as in Hebrew calendar 360 day years. We are at 5778 right now, but even Jews will admit they could be off a few years during their captivities.

A good test would be "How do you feel telling a non believer the earth is a young earth?" If you are ashamed, could Jesus be ashamed of you? How far will you go preaching the Gospel? Will you tell someone Jesus was born of a virgin, died and rose on the 3rd day? Where do you draw the line in your faith? For me, the Word of God is inerrant and true. There has been some translation problems, but they are minor. Just go back to the original Hebrew and Greek for the proof text.

We are in the last church age of Laodicea and we are trying to be lukewarm. We think we have it all figured out but are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked. I think most Christians are taught that we are saved by grace through faith, at least I hope we are. You will receive grace by the amount of faith you have. You don't have to be a Bible scholar to believe. A west Virginia coal minor with a 5th grade education can sit at the feet of Jesus. A seminary professor may not even get into heaven if he teaches evolution and all that goes with that. What you believe is very important as to the grace you get. You are judged by the light you have been given. Preachers that preach nothing but grace are preaching error if they don't tell them they must have faith. There is no grace without faith. Noah believed God and received grace. Abraham believed and received grace. None of us are perfect, but we can believe what God says. Questioning the truth of God is inviting the wrath of God, just as Adam and Eve questioned the truth of God in the Garden. Stop questioning God and trust Him. If you just can't bring yourself to do that, you will be a foolish virgin in Mat 25.

..."The Hebrew word used for day, in Genesis, has multiple meanings."...

Not true. God was very specific that an evening and morning was the first day and each day after that was the same term, and evening and morning to denote a night and day. In Exodus 20, He repeats the same thing in the 10 Commandments. God went to great lengths to emphasize each day was a 24 hour period. It is true that in various places in Scripture that you might read a week of years, or a week of days, but Creation was 7 individual days. Any rabbi would verify this.

Oh, I get it now. Everybody who accepts the scriptures and the Creation account, as written, including the Hebrew prophets, including Christ our Savior Himself; not to mention the Apostles and Church Fathers and our Founding Fathers, chose the incorrect meaning upon which to base their Doctrine. Scazzaaamm! That cleared it right up. And kudos to that NYC singer for setting us straight. Wow! I feel educated now. Thanks a dozen.

...."The only "snapshots" we have are fossils. Fossils of individuals. And no fossil of an individual can show that individual "morphing" into something else."...

That's the whole point Christians have been making since Darwin started spewing his swill to the masses. There are NO transitions shown anywhere except on artists drawings. Not one fossil shows one transition.

Having said that, The fossil record shows a particular time division, the Flood. Genesis 6 tells us that demons fell to earth and mated with daughters of men. That means the Sons of God were made by God and not men like Seth. These fallen angels hated God and wanted to corrupt the Creation of God. They had the ability to change DNA. This combination made a race of Giants. They taught the women witchcraft and sorcery. Dino's are NOT God's Creation. Immediately after Nephilim are mentioned, we are introduced to Noah and the Flood. These demons had contaminated the "seed" of God's Creation. This is, after all, a "seed war", between the seed of the woman and the seed of the Serpent, in Genesis 3. Satan determined that corrupting the image of God would allow him to win this war. This defected seed was passed on to the post Flood people because ALL FLESH was corrupted except Noah, who was perfect in his generations. All Creation was killed in the Flood save Noah and family and the creatures God wanted to put on the Ark. Noah's wife could have been corrupted, and or, his sons wives taken from the nearby people. The first sign of corruption after the Flood was Nimrod. He was a giant.( Septuagint) The dino's were drowned and covered in mud. After civilization replenished the earth, you will find Joshua and Saul were told in no uncertain terms to kill every man woman and child in certain area's. Why kill dogs and horses and cattle or children unless there was contamination there? There are a lot of unbelievers due to these orders to kill everyone and everything. They fail to understand the great lengths God had gone to to cleanse the earth of demon seed. This same seed tried to kill Moses as a baby in Egypt. This same seed tried to kill Jesus in Bethlehem.

There is what is known as the "Crimson Thread" running through the Bible showing the genealogy of Jesus and how Satan tried to cut that thread many times. It has gotten so close that Israel was attacked and the seed was down to one baby that was hidden away, but all others were killed.

What we have today on the planet is what Noah carried on the Ark that was "good" to God. What Satan corrupts is NOT GOOD to God. Satan thought he had won when Jesus was on the cross, but he only "bruised His heel". Jesus is coming in Revelation to "bruise his head".

Finding fossils of "monsters" is not proof God created Dinosaurs. There were monsters, but God didn't create them. We read in Scripture that it will be as the "days of Noah" and the "days of Lot" when Jesus comes back. What does Noah and Lot have in common? God's Judgement fell on the earth. If Jesus is coming back, what does that foretell? Judgement is coming again. In Noah's time, there was violence and murder as man did what they thought right. I think shooting children in schools might qualify for that. Cutting heads of and putting them on fences might qualify. A little work and imagination will fill out the rest of the picture of evil continuously as it was in the days of Noah. I shouldn't have to explain much on the "days of Lot". If you can't figure that out, I'm wasting my typing. Romans 1:18-32 speaks of denying God as Creator causes a reprobate mind and sexual confusion.

Obviously, a believer in the God of the Bible has to figure that the animals God designed to be on earth are alive today and He killed all the ones that weren't His. There are people today editing DNA to make animals that God didn't make. If a man has sex with a sheep, donkey, cow, or a monkey, you will NEVER have a Chimera of man and beast. God designed DNA to NOT mix species. Making a pig with a human heart is NOT blessed by God. It comes from a reprobate mind. I was reading where scientists overseas mixed a monkey and a human DNA and produced a child. They quickly had to kill it because of the violence. We are playing with fire if we think we can manipulate DNA that God has made to make our own Chimera's. That includes diseases and plagues.

If they all used the same word, and that word has multiple meanings, how do you or anyone ELSE know which meaning they meant? And I DON’T believe in evolution. I’m just saying it means whatever God meant it to mean, and we don’t know for sure what that is. We’re supposed to SEARCH the Scriptures and study them. You do know, I assume, that the Bible is true in its ORIGINAL form, right? What we get are translations. And they’re not all accurate.

Evolution is undeniable in the sense that the fact that life changes to adapt to it’s environment over the generations is pretty well-documented.

Adaptation is not evolution. The two are different.

The context of how the word is used will tell you the meaning of the word.

The use of yom in Genesis and else where a day is mentioned always means a 24 hour day.

Absolutely. No question its a 24 hour period. I don’t know how God could make it any clearer.

Genesis 1:5 (KJV)
5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

Genesis 1:8 (KJV)
8 And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.

Genesis 1:13 (KJV) All plant life created here.
13 And the evening and the morning were the third day.

Genesis 1:19 (KJV) Sun created here.
19 And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.

Genesis 1:23 (KJV)
23 And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.

Genesis 1:31 (KJV)
31 And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

A better question to consider is what took place between Genesis 1:1 and 1:2? Why did the Earth BECOME formless, empty, covered in water - all forms of judgment.

“I don’t know how God could make it any clearer.”

Well - it would have been more clear if He hadn't created the sun after he called the first day and the first night. Or created plants before he created the sun. Of course there may have been another source of light energy that the plants used and it was replaced by the sun. (Just as rain fell for the first time during the flood, and replaced the daily fog/mist that previously had watered the plants.)

I do believe in the Creation story.

I also believe in the idea of a “day” means a period of time.

I also believe that the ancients were trying to describe the greater truths and the idea of God in the best way that they could. And obviously today, it is impossible for us to completely understand God.

Personally, I think there is something to do with the “Big Bang” on the first day. That is when God created energy - “And God said let there be light”. And from that light energy (and E=MC2), everything else was thus created for God to form as He wished.

1 CORINTHIANS 15:20-23

But it is true! Christ has been raised from the dead! He was the first One to be raised from the dead and all those who are in graves will follow.

21 Death came because of a man, Adam. Being raised from the dead also came because of a Man, Christ.

22 All men will die as Adam died. But all those who belong to Christ will be raised to new life.

23 This is the way it is: Christ was raised from the dead first. Then all those who belong to Christ will be raised from the dead when He comes again.
