German Bishop Invites All Protestant Spouses to Receive Communion at Jubilee Masses

The Bishop of Würzburg's invitation goes well beyond previous statements from German bishops

The Bishop of Würzburg has allowed all Protestants married to Catholics to receive Holy Communion at jubilee Masses for married couples in his cathedral.

Bishop Franz Jung, who was installed as bishop just last month, told spouses in “inter-denominational” marriages that they were welcome to “join the Lord’s table” at the Masses, which are taking place on Thursday and Friday.

An article on the diocese’s website says the bishop “expressly invited interdenominational [literally ‘confession-uniting’] couples to celebrate the Eucharist”.

The article says that, in the coming months, the diocesan committees will discuss the recommendations of the German Bishops’ Conference on Communion of Protestant spouses. “But today I extend the heartfelt invitation to all mixed-confessional couples to join the Lord’s table,” the bishop adds.

After the mess a few years back, I remember thinking that the RCC in its current form is dying, and it will take either one of two paths in order to survive.

1: As Benedict said, paraphrased, smaller but holier. That is, someone will be able to purge the gay mafia, the corruption, and the leftism that’s rotting it from within. They’ll need to make sacrifices to do so, though.

2: Throw open the church doors to everyone in order to get as much money as they can squeeze while continuing to cover up all the bad things happening in the hierarchy.

Looks like they’re going after option 2.

Next up, Jewish and Muslim spouses.

I will go where Jesus is always truly present in the Eucharist. All men are fallen and are terrible and unworthy sinners, those in the Catholic Church are not different, but Christ remains and so will I.

Sure, I won’t argue with the importance of the Lord’s Supper.

And it doesn’t really matter whether the priest is corrupt or not because the promise is God’s promise, not any man’s.

It doesn’t change the fact that the offerings to Roman churches are being used to fund an organization that has become very, VERY sinful and is showing it more and more.

I don’t know what faithful Catholics are going to do about it. It’s really not my business so much because I’m not Catholic, but I feel for my brothers who are.

But you appear to do so anyway. Go figure.

Aww, ebb is triggered by just my name showing up. How sweet it is to know that I’m awesome enough to make him REEEE even when I’m being totally civil on a completely different thread.

Am I wrong, though? All offerings to Catholic churches are funding the sinful activities of the Vatican. That must put faithful Catholics in quite a bind.

This was exactly Bergoglio's not so well hidden goal.

The stealth heretic strikes again.

False. They are not welcome. Sorry, buddy, to break up your fake dream of world peace. Pity the person who uses the Lord for fictitious goals.

I’m surprised Disney Corporation has not made a movie of Jesus and the Twelve dwarves and not made a Jesus Land next to Tomorrow Land in order to make money off the Lord.

I think your analysis is spot-on.

The majority of Cardinals rejected “smaller, poorer, holier” upon delivery. Benedict was gone not long afterwards.

IMO this is all about attracting as many people as possible back to the collection basket. Be that non-Catholic spouses, divorced Catholics who left the Church, etc.

It’s all about growing the institution at the expense of what it stands for.

And what is the opposition strategy? Send more strongly worded letters apparently.

Yes, you happen to be wrong on that commonly misunderstood detail. Parish donations (collection, envelope, tithe, etc) do not go to the Vatican. In the USA, usually all goes to the local church (managed by priest or finance committee or parish council), with 8% sent in to the diocese (bishop).

And where does that 8% go to after that?

Where does the Vatican get its funds? Banking?

What % of mixed Catholic/Protestant married people actually take the effort to go to church in 2018 Germany that would also eagerly take him up on the offer? The will be getting 80 year old hippie weirdos that usually go to druid ceremonies or daring hipster internet religionists of indeterminate gender or something.
