Yes, you happen to be wrong on that commonly misunderstood detail. Parish donations (collection, envelope, tithe, etc) do not go to the Vatican. In the USA, usually all goes to the local church (managed by priest or finance committee or parish council), with 8% sent in to the diocese (bishop).
And where does that 8% go to after that?
Where does the Vatican get its funds? Banking?
