[Catholic Caucus] If Francis Rubber-Stamps Contraception, He Will Again Fall Into Heresy

If Francis Rubber-Stamps Contraception, He Will Again Fall Into Heresy

For the Austrian philosopher Josef Seifert it is “totally inadmissible and a radical break with Church teaching” to claim that using contraception is an alleged "act of responsibility."

Seifert referred to a claim made by radical Father Maurizio Chiodi, a member of the former Pontifical Academy for Life.

Talking to Edward Pentin (July 13), Seifert said that if Pope Francis would rubber-stamp such changes “he would accept a total ethical error and a huge heresy”.

Seifert added that Chiodi's heresy is "nothing else than an old ethical error" which implies "the very destruction of the moral teaching of the Church.”

Frankie chides people who have large families as being like rabbits.

Of course he is going to see that contraception becomes a Catholic ideal.

“Fall into”? Francis has filled the heresy pool and dived in.

All liberals hav opinions which others are to respect if not follow. Facts have no bearing.

I suppose you would refuse to read Humanae Vitae for a view of an opinion on the effects of contraception based on facts and biblical references, a prophetic account published in 1968 all of which has come true

1) Whether the contraceptive effectively blocked conception or not, is irrelevant as far as the sinfulness of it is concerned. As with any inherently disordered act, it's the intent which is wrong, in this case, altering and therefore perverting the procreative power of the act.

2) By your own statement HERE, you are not a Catholic believer and should not be posting to this Catholic Caucus thread.

Good for you, but the opinions of TexasFreeper2009 are irrelevant to the teachings of the Catholic Church. The proof of the pudding is in the eating, and Humanae Vitae got it right in 1968. The consequences of widespread use of artificial contraception have been catastrophic, and everything that was predicted to happen happened (i.e., widespread divorce, abortion, pornography, the degradation of women). And some horrors that weren't even predicted (e.g., same-sex marriage) are the direct result of the contraceptive mentality. Once the procreative aspect of sexuality was separated out, and sexual activity for no purpose other than pleasure was legitimized, all hell broke loose.

With that said, I fully expect the heretic in chief in the Vatican to jettison the Church's hard teaching on contraception, just has he demolished other hard teachings such as no communion for the divorced and civilly remarried.

In classical Logic, the Third Law is the Law of Non-Contradiction, LNC, which is that contradictory statements cannot both be true in the same sense at the same time, e.g. the two propositions "A is B" and "A is not B" cannot both be true.

A (does not equal) non-A.

As it applies to the Church, it means that no settled doctrine of the Ordinary Magisterium can be directly contradicted by (or rescinded by) a subsequent attempted doctrinal change.

I'm not sure if "infallibility" in the formal sense needs to be invoked here, but in terms of the Papal Magisterium, Francis does not have the authority to contradict the doctrine of Humanae Vitae (1968).

He knows this.

So he'll try to make things so confused, ambiguous, and equivocating that those who wish to squish it all into a muddle, will feel free to do so.

That's how he operates: not by clear, forthright doctrinal definitions but by puzzling footnotes, stage-whispers, accidentally leaked personal advice, "pastoral discretion," nods and winks and knowing glances.

It's entirely dishonest, but it can accomplish what he wants.

And now, a tagline from an eminent Catholic theologian:

It's true that nothing is impossible for God. And St. John the Baptist said that God could raise up sons to Abraham from the stones.

However, to say that what you do (e.g. intentionally disrupt procreative sex by using a contraceptive drug, device or surgery) doesn't matter, because God can still cause you to get pregnant, is a moral error.

It's like saying it's OK to steal, because God can put the money back in the cash register. OR it's OK to write a forged document, because God could cause the document to get lost.

Irrelevant. It's your act and your intent that's offensive to God.

Our Pope is a Heretic.

There’s just no arguing that.

And it belies the assertion of infallibility.

Nobody has asserted infallibility on this. Including Pope Francis.

The doctrine of Infallibility is only negative, not positive. It's the Holy Spirit playing defense.

What it boils down to, is not that the Pope cannot have an erroneous theological opinion, but that he will not be able to declare that opinion in such form that it becomes part of the irreformable doctrine of the Church.

It is not so much a guarantee to the pope as if he were an all-purpose oracle (he is not), but a protection to the Church that errors in faith and morals will not become fully and formally binding on Catholics.

The gist of it in 2 minutes:

How to Understand Infallibility in Two Minutes

It's pretty funny.

He is no pope.

"Therefore, the true opinion is the fifth, according to which the Pope who is manifestly a heretic ceases by himself to be Pope and head, in the same way as he ceases to be a Christian and a member of the body of the Church; and for this reason he can be judged and punished by the Church. This is the opinion of all the ancient Fathers, who teach that manifest heretics immediately lose all jurisdiction.."
