Neopagans in Iceland Will Build the First Temple to Thor and Odin in 1000 Years

About 1000 years ago, paganism was practically stamped out in Iceland, while Christianity was ushered in. But Nordic neopaganism, under the name of Ásatrúarfélagið (sometimes called Asatru), has now become the fastest growing belief system in the country. And after years in the making, the believers of this faith are on the brink of worshipping in their first temple.

Business Insider Nordic reports the statistics on just how fast Ásatrúarfélagið has grown, “From 570 members in 2002, the ‘association of the faith of the Æsir’ – Ásatrúarfélagið – now numbers 3900 Icelanders, making it the largest non-Christian religion in the country.”

The Ásatrúarfélagið’s first temple, built to honor Odin and Thor, is expected to be ready by the end of 2018. The temple was originally set to be built in 2016, but technical problems have delayed construction work. It is designed by Icelandic architect and Ásatrúarfélagið member Magnús Jensson and will be in Reykjavik.

Europe has come full circle now.

2 Timothy 4:3-4 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables

If they're not having lutefisk suppers like the Lutherans, they'll have converts lined up at the gate.

“Neopagans in Iceland Will Build the First Temple to Thor and Odin in 1000 Years”

I have a temple for Thor and Odin...I call it a bar. Danish wife loves it too on behalf of her ancestors.

Did they do it properly with nine men hung as a human sacrifice?

No?

Then they are posers.

Well, the Norse religion existed already in 500 BC, and probably goes back another 1,000 years prior to that. Norse Text and poetry already existed as the Old Testament was being put into being.

Odin demands blood sacrifices. A new age of Christian martyrdom is coming.

Religion and culture are inextricably intertwined. One benefits the other. Or, in the case of devil worship and most pagan religions, the one does not benefit the other, but worship subtracts from the successes of the culture. If one went with, say, Christianity, one would participate in the most successful civilizational model in human history. If someone participates in any other religion, one not only doesn’t benefit the larger culture, but at best gets along with it, and at worst, destroys it. Why would anyone, witnessing two thousand years of success, support a different civilizational model?

I will take a shot at answering the question. Governments, by policy and laws, have made Christianity unfashionable. They have done this because they, governments, want to replace the worship of Christ with the worship of government.

The “temple” looks like a café at a zoo. Somehow appropriate.

Nope.

It is nearly as bad as those fops prancing around in their mom's bed sheets acting like they are actual Greek pagans or worse those that claim to be druids.

The real article would have twined their sensitive guts on a cleft stick faster then the fakes could order a soy latte.
