LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Church of Scientology and one of its former members have settled a lawsuit she filed nearly a decade ago alleging she was forced to work long hours as a pre-teen and was coerced to have an abortion at 17.

Good for Laura, though. She now has some small measure of vindication, but she could have had so much more. I think she could have broken the back of the cult.

Beyond Belief, by Jenna Miscavige Hill (niece of David Miscavige), is a great book to read. It talks about her life growing up in Scientology, how she was kept separate from her parents as a young child, and how hard it was to break free from Scientology. I highly recommend it.
