Delaware Governor Signs Law Banning Conversion Therapy

July 23 (UPI) -- Delaware Gov. John Carney signed a law Monday prohibiting medical and mental health professionals in the state from practicing or referring conversion therapy for minors.

The law made Delaware the 14th state, along with Washington, D.C., to ban conversion therapy, a practice which attempts to change the sexual orientation or gender identity of LGBT people.

"All Delawareans, including Delaware children, deserve to be respected for who they are, and I was proud to sign Senate Bill 65 into law today," Carney wrote on Twitter. "Discredited practices like conversion therapy have no place in Delaware."

Under the new law the practice is considered unprofessional conduct, for which licensed medical and mental health professionals in the state can face discipline. It also prohibits the Department of Services for Children, Youth and Their Families from recommending conversion therapy to minors.

"We are not aware of anyone currently practicing conversion therapy in Delaware," said Lisa Goodman, president of LGBT rights organization Equality Delaware. "We are aware of a number of young people through the years who have been referred out by Delaware licensed mental health professionals to people doing conversion therapy out of state, and that is one thing that this bill will also prohibit."

Can we just call abortion a discredited practice then?

This argument makes no sense there’s all sorts of “conversion” therapies they happily support like transgenderism or even homosexual support systems to help you come out. But if you try to go against the narrative and be “normal” no no no... that’s illegal.
If you want to ban FORCED conversion therapy that’s one thing. Banning voluntary conversion therapy is an assault on civil rights.

Conversion therapy has its Quacks, and I personally have difficulty with those who hold that all aberrant sexual attractions have one cause e.g. “father rejection”.

But it may help some and perhaps these people and our culture need to remember that respect is mandatory toward persons, but not toward all our biological or psychological abnormal inclinations.

Conversion therapy and minors is one debate, but how can a law that prevents an adult from undergoing such therapy be constitutional?

No. Conversion therapy is “counseling” which attempts to help a person toward normal, heterosexual attractions.

The hormone surgical approach to trans gender “feelings” is, in many doctor's opinions horrible child abuse. I concur.

The Delaware Democrats also just about got a law passed that lets children redefine their sex without parental consent and makes the schools the enabler of their sick fantasies. Carney is a typical Democrat in this state -far left and screwed up.
