Catholic Cold War Turns Hot [Catholic Caucus]
The American Conservative ^ | August 27, 2018 | Rod Dreher

Posted on 08/27/2018 6:18:18 PM PDT by Mrs. Don-o

One of the enduring mysteries of the contemporary Catholic Church is why so many priests know about practicing homosexuals in the priesthood, but don’t do anything about it.

A gay Catholic friend told me that it’s because both sides live under a Cold War policy of Mutually Assured Destruction. They will snipe at each other in proxy wars, but when it comes right down to it, they will not turn on each other directly, because once the first missile is fired, there’s no stopping them. Both sides know that such warfare could destroy the institution that they both depend on. So they practice restraint, despite mutual loathing.

But then we see conservative Archbishop Carlo Maria Vigano’s statement over the weekend, a nuclear bomb going off in the enemy’s capital.

[Gigantic snip]

Next question: why are you saying it now?

Vigano's answer freezes the blood: “Because those cracks mentioned by Paul VI, from which Satan’s smoke would have slipped into the house of God, have become chasms. The devil is working powerfully. And not to admit it, or turn your face to the other side, it would be our greatest sin."

“Monsignor, do you know what they will say? That he wants to take revenge. That he is eaten up by resentment for having been dismissed.... That he is the raven who brought out the Vatileaks papers. They will say that he is unstable, as well as a conservative of the worst kind.”

Vigano responded:

“I know, I know. But I do not care. The only thing that matters to me is to bring the truth to the surface, so that purification can begin. At the point where we are there is no other way “.

CATHOLIC CAUCUS

<

Cardinal Carlo Maria Vigano, Vatican Whistle-Blower

Please go back and read the whole article from the source (the indefatigable and indispensable Rod Dreher). I had to cut 9/10 of it to make the excerpt.

Sorry for the CATHOLIC CAUCUS, but I've found that if I don't do that, we get swarmed by people who want to argue about Jesus' mom.

If you are a non-Catholic but want to comment civilly, reasonably on-topic, without pulling us down a rabbit trail, go ahead and comment and I will not blow the whistle.

One more thing: every one of you please send Vigano's Testimony to your bishop.

He probably already has it. But he has to know you know.

And you have to say you want him to support an independent investigation of Vigaro's charges, because if they can be proven, Pope Francis must resign for the good of the Church.

We quit making weekly offerings shortly after Francis became pope. We now contribute to the charities of our choice. I considered leaving the church but decided to stay and fight. My guess is schism is in our future. The homosexual lobby has taken over the reins of power but the grassroots will not stay with them. The Church is trying to supplement its income by becoming a defacto department of refugee placement for the feds.

Cardinal Vigano seems to be a good person. He is taking a great risk. God bless him.

Pray for him.

I just read the entire article. It is just as I expected. God bless all the good and faithful priests and seminarians. We need to keep them in our prayers. And God bless Cardinal Carlo Maria Vigano.

His life is in danger. He needs to stay out of Fort Marcy Park ...

Indeed. Pray for him. No matter what happens from here, Vigano has earned his place in Catholic history. He will be remembered for fearlessly standing up to wickedness.

If the Pope doesn’t want to leave... how do you excommunicate a Pope? Can you? This reminds me of all the history of the Church in the Middle Ages. More intrigues and scandals than you can count.

Part of the problem is that the Pope is a greater leftist than a Catholic. He probably wants the church to embrace the modern age of global warming, gay marriage, abortion rights, etc. The Good Shepard of the flock really wants what a great number of the strays in the flock already have. So as a modern leftist he can easily look away when he sees deviance...

If the Pope resigns then there is more Catholic than leftist in him. If he doesn’t resign, then there will be a battle for the Church. There maybe several Popes, each excommunicating the other. In which case, who says history doesn’t repeat.

Wow, never knew the Great Seal could be used against us.

While breaking the Great Seal is a sin against the Holy Spirit, doing this must also be a Sin Against the Holy Spirit?
