[Catholic Caucus] Donald Wuerl, the Church’s Most Oblivious Cleric

The cardinal’s repeated denials of knowledge and responsibility for sexual-abuse cover-ups defy all credibility.

The Catholic Church’s nightmare of a summer began with Theodore McCarrick. After news broke in June about his past sexual misconduct, including the abuse of minors, he resigned from the College of Cardinals and was exiled to a life of prayer and penance, out of the public eye. But the Archdiocese of Washington, which McCarrick once oversaw, remains very much in the eye of the storm.

There, McCarrick’s direct successor, the embattled cardinal Donald Wuerl, clings to his leadership role, even after weeks of criticism and calls for his resignation. He has done little to silence them and much to bring further censure upon himself.

The governing style of both of these homoclerics was directly lifted from stalin. There spies are everywhere in the archdiocese. A favorite tactic is planting a compliant permanent deacon to tattle on the pastor, to keep him in line.

I had a new pastor at my parish in the archdiocese who, upon assessing his new situation, looked for a way to denounce and destroy our diaconal mole. I actually wound up unintentionally providing the ammunition for the deacon’s firing squad. He enjoyed a very successful pastorate, in spite of wuerl. The people, initially wary of his conservative style and orthodox ways, grew to love him. He gave permission to our choir director to reintroduce Latin hymns and Gregorian chant to our Masses.

Ultimately, the pastor was punished by wuerl in typical devious fashion. Halfway through the pastor’s “term,” he sent the pastor to the boonies (which backfired on wuerl, since the pastor’s success was even greater in his new parish than at our parish), making way for Fr. Baby Priest (a 33 year-old snowflake), one of mccarrick’s pets.

This is one reason why wuerl’s denials about what he knew and didn’t know about mccarrick ring hollow with me. wuerl was still doing favors for him well after he “retired” by assigning his pets to good appointments.

Is it just me, or do they ALL look like obvious homos?

Would your gaydar pick them up if you didn’t already know?

“Complicit” is likely closer to the truth than “oblivious”.

It’s simply not credible that Wuerl could take over for McCarrick and not know.

You just don’t walk into any high-profile position of that nature without making it your business to learn EVERYTHING about your predecessor.

And Wuerl was more plugged-in politically than any other Bishop. No way he didn’t know.

His brazen lies have sickened people here in his hometown.

All it takes is just one look at the fabulous costumes they wear.

Seriously, what other kind of man would wear such a costume?
