The Church, Sexual Immorality, and Fake Christianity
www.TrevorGrantThomas.com ^ | 9/9/2018 | Trevor Grant Thomas

…Fewer and fewer Americans these days seem willing “to contend with the explicit repentance of a definite, fully recognized, sin.” Of course, to a great extent, this is because fewer and fewer Americans are able to recognize what is sin—or, many Americans are simply becoming comfortable with their sin and are eagerly strolling along the “gentle slope” to hell.

In a foolish desire to be “relevant” or “tolerant,” churches across the world—especially mainline Protestant churches and the Catholic Church—have abandoned long-heeded truths for heresy. This is especially the case when it comes to matters in the sexual realm.

At this point in the moral wars, if you are a Christian, you almost certainly should well know where your church stands on the issues of homosexuality, same-sex “marriage,” and any other manifestation of sexual immorality. If your church’s position on such grave matters is unclear, you should be asking yourself and your church leadership why this is the case.

If your church is refusing to confront these grave matters bravely and truthfully, you should seek to change that. If they refuse, you should find another body of fellowship. Likewise, if you are a lover of the truth, any church you’ve attended that has already gone the way of the world on homosexuality, marriage, and the like should now be your former church.

In other words, there is a war raging within the church, and it is long past time to choose sides and get in the fight. Decades of fake Christians peddling fake Christianity—along with lazy, ignorant, lukewarm, and sometimes hypocritical congregations—have allowed the moral lines for what was and was not sin in the sexual realm to be blurred or altogether redrawn…

I had a conversation with a woman who was very vocal that she was both a christian and supported homosexuals. I asked her about her thoughts on polygamy, namely her husband going out and getting a younger wife. Her response was what you imagined. “Oh no!”, “that is immoral”, etc. At which time I pointed out to her:

You condemn polygamy which the old testament not only allowed, but codified and in some situations required but you celebrate and defend the practice of homosexuality which the old testament required that they be put to death.

I then quoted Isiah 5:20 - Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

I fear that much of Christendom has been fooled.

I fear you are correct. I've used the "why not polygamy" argument before myself. You watch, it too will become more and more "tolerated." Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil... That should be plastered across the U.S.

What worries me the most is that the oldest church has now succumbed. The protestant churches are just a piece of the Catholic Church that couldn’t accept ALL the church had to offer. The Protestant churches teach that they are still a part of the Catholic church, they profess it in their creed but it doesn’t make it so.

While true that polygamy was an accepted practice it was mostly gone by the third century in Christianity and in Judaism.

I personally don’t believe you can really be a Christian and accept homosexuality as not being a sin, a horrible perversion of what God gave us in the Garden. Few churches there are anymore that don’t accept some perversions in the Gospel. I understand their desire to be accepting but it would be better to teach truth, accept the sinner as a sinner until they can repent.

We are after all all sinners and under condemnation unless we repent, by accepting sin as not sin there will never be a repentance and the soul will be lost.

My statements don’t mean to oversimplify the situation.

There are statements in the New Testament that can be taken as an oversimplification, (get ready flame throwers) such as believe on the name of Jesus and be saved. While the statement is true it doesn’t mean only believe, it means believe and show your faith by following Christ, give up your sins and love your neighbor, etc . . .

James says show me your works and I’ll show you your faith. I say, works don’t save us but without them what is our demonstration of faith. Again, as James says, Faith without works is dead.

Our faith should lead us to the works of pointing out to the homosexual the error of his ways, the sin of his ways and help him into full fellowship so he can enjoy life the way it was meant to be enjoyed, following the commandments.

No, he’s a Protestant evangelical. His late father-in-law (he’s written about this) was their pastor for many years. It was a Vineyard church. I think he’s now in a Southern Baptist church.

All they have to do is treat it as harshly as they used to. The liberalization of the 1960s is what enabled this.

In a foolish desire to be “relevant” . .

We have a church in Salem, Oregon that renamed itself, "Relevant church".

I’ll go with everything except the spitting and flogging and iron chains, but the rest I’m on board. Sounds about right. Maybe castration as well.

Almost certainly there’s thousands across the U.S. who should do the same.

From the article:

“As a result, the battles over sex and sexuality in our culture have largely been lost. A wide array of sexually immoral behaviors is now deemed acceptable by significant portions of our culture. At least sixty percent of Americans view same-sex “marriage,” homosexuality, and fornication (sex outside of marriage) as morally acceptable. Our courts, corporations, schools, legislatures, and the like have taken notice. Most every significant institution in the U.S. now widely embraces evil. The church doesn’t seem far behind. “

I wonder how many professing Christians who embrace homosexual behavior as acceptable also explicitly embrace fornication as acceptable.

I know of a professing Christian (Catholic) who referred to homosexual behavior (in a rather lighthearted way) as “sexuality” as if it were a matter of taste or preference in dining room place settings.

What's called the Catholic Church today is an increasingly uneasy coexistence, under one roof, of two churches: the "One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church, and the apostate "Church of Modernism."

Pope Francis is the guy who has gone apostate boldly enough to actually force a split. He was , by turns, inching and striding toward schism from the beginning of his pontificate, but pretty much tipped his hand in the encyclical "Amoris Letitia."

Some people found it subtle (the whole thing teetered on the fulcrum of a single ambiguous footnote) but for those who have "eyes to see," he was claiming the right to change his predecessors' doctrine, which is teaching concerning faith and morals going back to the Apostles, which he actually does not have the right to do.

I expect the schism to become much more explicit in the next 6-12 months.

You are correct. God put man over beasts and beastly behavior. Man was to worship and think about his commitment to God. Homosexuality is first an abomination and sin came as a Commandment. God is so strict Christianity required an intercessionary to remove fear and breath life into the early Church. Homosexuality leads to death.

“Oh no!”, “that is immoral”, etc.

It appears to me that far too many people who claim to be Christian has that same attitude, but it could be just Mormon bias although i wonder why they will invent scripture to try to prove that polygamy is an abomination.

But by the way one is enough for me.
