Just hours ago, new Chicago Auxiliary Bishop Mark Bartosic arrived unannounced at Resurrection Parish on Chicago’s Northwest side and told Pastor Paul Kalchik that he had just minutes to get his belongings together and vacate the premises or the police would be called to arrest him for trespassing.
Fr. Kalchik was about to perform a wedding.
Soon after, Fr. Kalchik left for an undisclosed location, accompanied by his brother who had been visiting the parish.
Bp. Bartosic performed the wedding instead, hastily slipping out the door of the church only seconds after concluding the ceremony.
Fr. Kalchik had been ordered by Cardinal Cupich and the archdiocese to report for psychiatric counseling and perhaps confinement yesterday after controversy broke concerning the exorcism and burning of a “gay rainbow flag” on parish grounds last week.
Fr. Kalchik had also called for Catholics to “boycott” masses celebrated by Cardinal Cupich due to Cupich’s alleged involvement in the current clerical sex abuse scandal.
The flag – a rainbow with a superimposed cross – had been unveiled above the altar by previous pastor Fr. Daniel Montalbano in 1991 to signal that the parish would be “gay friendly.” Later taken down, it was rediscovered only recently by Fr. Kalchik.
Fr. Montalbano, a confidant of Cardinal Bernardin, passed away in 1997 at the age of 50.
The “real cause” of Fr. Montalbano’s death was reported by Church Militant as “too sordid to be detailed on paper.”
Today, a small group of parishioners not involved in the wedding but who had heard of the sudden appearance of Bp. Bartosic, stood stunned outside the Church. The group also included two employees who were hastily told by the bishop to report to work as normal on Monday.
One of the parishioners, a Chicago policeman, told me of some of the bizarre events of the last week, including numerous threats of death and rape against Fr. Kalchik, at least two probable attempted break-ins or acts of vandalism, one of which included breaking keys into all the locks in the doors of the church office. And then there was the visit by two Archdiocese representatives, yesterday, ordering Fr. Kalchik to vacate his parish and commit himself into psychiatric confinement.
One of these was Fr. Dennis Lyle, the same prelate who had visited St. John Cantius a few months ago to inform parishioners that their pastor, Fr. Phillips, had been relieved of his position there.
Fr. Kalchik had written of his own psychological trauma after being molested as a boy and young man by two priests in separate incidents. It is assumed that he will not comply with the order of the archdiocese. He is not now “hospitalized” as some reports have suggested.
The parishioners outside told me that Fr. Kalchik, who has been at Resurrection Parish for eleven years, has the full support of his parish.
Many of them will no doubt only discover what happened, tomorrow, when coming to Mass assuming it will be celebrated by Fr. Paul, will instead encounter Bp. Bartosic.

If only they were so forceful and aggressive in dealing with the perverts who have infested the church. Imagine the beacon the church would become if he showed up and forcibly ejected a pervert right in front of everyone.

Cupich is a jerk and the priest was treated coldly and unkindly. However! The Cardinal Arch told the priest not to burn the flag, in very clear terms. The priest chose to disobey his bishop, on Church property, an act of defiance in which he also included others. All this in a statement about gays, which only raised anger and controversy. He put his ego before his duty and rightly will reap the consequences.
The priest did not burn the flag. He turned it over to his parishoners; they burned it on their own.
Not a legitimate order; need not be obeyed. The flag didn't belong to the Cardinal.
His idea, his orders, his doing, his parish. Obviously he is responsible or it never would have been done. Technically who lit the match, well, please!
What part of, “Father, do not burn it” do you not understand? Hilarious to quibble over ownership, or we’d have to establish whether the flag belonged to the estate of the late Cardinal Bernardin. And being that it was inherited by the parish, obviously the bishop does own it! The priest has no claim or right.
Today is the traditional feast day of St. Maurice and Companions, martyrs.

I am distressed to see a freeper take your position, Marchmain. You need to wise up. “Rightly reap the consequences” you say? Fella that makes me really mad. Don’t be an apologist for this filthy corrupt church leadership.
My mother is a close personal friend of Fr. Paul with intimate knowledge of this situation.
This fag Montlebano (a LOVER of the late Cardinal Bernadin, who molested young men himself) who was the previous pastor at this church had gay sex parties in the parish house(!!!!!), young men coming and going at all hours, held “gay masses” whatever those are. Stole church funds to buy giant mirrors for his bedroom. Left behind a cache of sex toys and porno. And I’m gonna tell you all how he died, forgive me. He died pleasuring himself with a “device” in his you know what, and this isn’t a handheld “device” we’re talking about but an elaborate one. A deacon found him and cleaned him up and took his porno to the woods to burn. The room was doused with holy water and sealed off for years.
Another previous pastor of this church is on the run from the law over molestation allegations.
Cupich is a “jerk” like Hitler was “mean to Jews”. Cupich is a piece of filth just like the commie Pope who appointed him. The goons he sent who call themselves Vicars were awful, they delighted in their task of ordering Paul to a mental hospital. “Who will say mass” they were asked. “Well who will say it if he DIES” they replied. This is the truly the lavender mafia.
Father Paul was motivated by the GAY RAPE CRISIS AND ONGOING COVERUP in the church. He himself was choked out and RAPED while a seminary student by a physically imposing priest. He made the mistake of telling the church instead of the cops. They did NOTHING. When this bastard rapist died he was praised as a great guy. Father Paul then heard from someone else this guy raped AFTER he did it to Father Paul. Young PRIESTS and seminary students are victims just as often as are “boys” (aka young men few are really “children” this is NOT a “pedophile” crisis) fags use the seminary as a meat market. Not all gays are horrible deviant rapists of course but a great great many are. With recent events and this Red Pope sticking his finger in his ears and whining about global warming finding this flag was too much, it needed to roast.
I wish he’d have done it without telling so all this didn’t happen but it needed to roast. I actually believed Cupich when he said he was thinking of removing Paul BEFORE this happened, he’s had it in for every conservative Priest since he got in. From day 1. He’s ordered the police Chaplin not to say anything in support of the CPD officer on trial for killing that PCP freak.

If Father Paul hadn’t had left he was warned by a friendly party that the Cardinal would have sent police to perp walk him out so Mell could have it photographed and put in the paper. That slime was outside his final mass with a bullhorn shouting at him.
Everyone at the parish LOVES Father Paul and is praying he is allowed to return. No one is saying he is “rightly reaping the consequences” to standing up to the gay rape COVERUP.
These past few days I’ve learned the crisis in the church is worse than I could have possibly imagined. It seems like homosexuals are basically running the church, it’s despicable. I learned of a priest that had his career ruined because he turned down the late Bernadin’s sexual advances.
Some psychologist that claimed to have been hired by the church to advise them on sexuality called the parish and told them that Fr. Paul was a bigot and that gay sex “could be sacred”. SACRED.
The moral theology teacher at the Mundelin seminary is a woman who talks to the students about masturbation, one complained about this and was KICKED OUT. She walked around the student gym in tight clothes till they made her stop (to tempt the straights so they could be weeded out? I have no idea I just know this woman is awful) She also shows solidarity with the gay group there that was called “The Cats” and are now “The Dogs” because they were found out and chastised (aka sent to the dog house, get it? Funny right? She hangs a dog bone on her door so they know who’s side she’s on)

Everyone on this thread should be praying that Father Paul is allowed to return and that horrible Pope and his minions GO.
People that are worked up over a chick maybe getting felt up at a party 40 years should be beyond outraged at this gay rape coverup.
We begin to see the priorities of the church laid bare. Sex with minors = covered up, hidden, preists relocated and even promoted. Raiding your voice against this scandal = threatened with arrest and removed from service.
