Cynicism is an antonym for faith.
My definition of cynicism is “the conceit that negativity is objectivity.”

Journalists know that “if it bleeds, it leads,” make them negative - yet they claim to be objective. That is, journalism as we know it is cynical.

But it would be incoherent to be cynical about everything. And journalism is not. It is cynical about society and it actually is naive about government.

And that combination of cynicism and naiveté is a defining characteristic of socialism.

Just dense, I guess . . .
