I just know what relic worshiping is.”

Apparently, you don’t.

Mark Twain said it isn’t what people don’t know that gets them in trouble, it’s what they do know that just isn’t so.

As the Venerable Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen said, “There are not a hundred people in America who hate the Catholic Church—but there are millions who hate what they mistakenly think the Catholic Church teaches.”

Every one of the Catholic bashers here is in exactly that condition. Everything they criticize the Church for is a lie. With the exception of homosexual clergy, of course, but they even get the implications of that wrong.

There are multiple thread types including caucus, devotional, ecumenical and open. Threads that are not labeled are considered to be open.

Being a "devotional" thread, that's a fair question even if worded improperly.

In Catholic usage, the term "worship" refers strictly and solely to the honor due God alone because He is God. We do not pay that honor to anyone but God Himself, Father Son and Holy Spirit.

The word you're looking for here is "veneration"; the honor due to someone who was exceptionally and heroically committed to God during his earthly life. We recognize them for two reasons (at least):

1) Their earthly lives, more than most of us, gave glory to God and allowed His Majesty to shine forth on earth.

2) Their lives are a challenge to us, to dedicate our lives more fully to loving, serving, and glorifying God. "You shall love the Lord your God with your whole heart, your whole soul, and your whole mind."

The Jesus Prayer is a short formulaic prayer esteemed and advocated especially within the Eastern churches: “Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner.”
