CW Show Calls Bible 'Fairy Tale' With 'Room for Improvement'

Episode Three of the fourth season of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, titled “I’m on My Own Path,” included a sweet storyline about the wedding between Heather and Hector. Unfortunately, this is a show on the CW network and a Bible-bashing comment had to make its way into the dialogue.

In the October 26 episode, Heather (Vella Lovell) and Hector (Erick Lopez) decide to speed up their wedding date to get Hector covered under Heather's health insurance faster for a medical issue.

The happy couple has a civil wedding ceremony performed by a judge but Hector later confesses to Heather that he’d really always wanted a church wedding. He assumed that she did, too. But, she didn’t want all the fuss. Then, at the end of the episode, their friends and their priest have arranged a surprise church wedding for Hector.

Heather’s friend, Rebecca (Rachel Bloom) is asked to “say a little something” at the ceremony’s beginning. The priest tells the guests that she “is great with words” so Rebecca proceeds up to the pulpit. She begins by saying she loves fairy tales and then says the Bible is the “greatest fairy tale” but that she “made some changes because there’s always room for improvement.” Wow.

Heather: Do your thing, Brah.

Priest: Roger that, Heather. But first, before we begin, Heather has asked a good friend who is great with words and also very proud of where she went to college, to say a little something.

Rebecca: Um, I love fairy tales. And this is from the greatest fairy tale of all time: The Bible.

Priest: Oh.

Rebecca: I made some changes because there's always room for improvement. Oh, okay.

How sad. Liberal Hollywood just can’t resist taking a cheap shot at Christianity. This random remark was inserted though no such opinion had been a part of the episode leading up to the wedding ceremony. None of the other characters made any disparaging remarks. Seems to me that the room for improvement is with the show’s writers. They should improve their attitude and show some respect for the faith of others.

FReepers I need to explain something to you all okay? I swore off TV about 4 or 5 years ago. I watch mainly old re-runs of Andy Griffith and the likes.

If it were not for mrcNewsbusters I'd have no idea what the trash these programs on TV was filling these young skulls full of mush with.

With that said when I post stuff from mrcNewsbusters can you all fill me in on what this nonsense is? I really have no clue. Plus a lot of times I'm posting it here so you know too!

Just letting you all know this because it was let known to me that some of you think I'm promoting this. No I am not. I had no idea network TV was this bad! I don't watch it anymore.

CW is an NBC /Comcast concern? Saw a minute of “Charmed,” last night. Hot millennial witches. Oh, and a lesbian kiss. Back to the World Series.

The CW DC superhero shows have descended into madness and self-parody. SJW antics are pervasive.

I don’t watch sitcoms anymore. Haven’t for quite a while. Too much trash and it’s getting worse.

That line from Rebecca was not needed and unnecessarily rude in an effort to look ‘Hip and Cool’.
Some script writer thinks this is the best way to acknowledge the religious link to matrimony; as the back end of a crass joke. I don’t watch these shows either on any regular basis, but I may be around TV sets at friends homes or during one of my Caregiving jobs for disabled clients. They usually have a TV going, whether it’s being watched or not.

10 years ago, I never would have dreamed that cooking shows would become so popular, but they are. I think people finally tired of most the game shows.
So you have cooking shows, and Housewives Of (Whatever) shows. that are often on the air. The Housewife shows I’m not that much into, but they are popular. Somebody’s watching them. Then there are the Teen Mom shows.
Guess who is now on a Teen Mom show? She hasn’t been a teenager in years.

Bristol Palin, Sarah’s daughter is now appearing on Teen Mom! Bristol is a Birthday Girl, turned 28 y/o on Oct. 18th.
Bristol is articulate, and has a bright, rowdy personality, like her mom.
She likes to argue on the air with her ex-husband for the cameras. Bristol is very comfortable in front of the camera too. I don’t know how much of that ‘arguing’ is real or feigned for the cameras. Big Time Wrestling type of domestic disputes. I haven’t seen this, but heard about it.

I find his so sad. The Bible contains about 7 thousand years of mankind’s wisdom. Bill Clinton and King David fell for a pretty female. Joseph and Potiphar’s wife predate Kavanaugh and Ford by several thousand years ( yes women lie). Saul and David were not nice fair tails. David’s Son trying to seize his throne and dying isn’t exactly nice but speaks to lusting for power. Very very sad that it is dismissed by twits. Hollywood is doing another Robin Hood. Maybe an story of intrigue about Solomon could be interesting. Oh well!

I’ve been involved in taking a story to a screen play. I have been fortunate to work with great writers and wonderful friends. But they keep trying to insert “comments” and jokes that are politically driven.

This has lead to some general conversations about politics in our day to day lives. We all agreed that when doing our everyday stuff, we rarely if ever discuss politics. And in “mixed company” any comments are generally making fun of situations, not the deep “policy.”

But, when they write, for some reason it comes out.

I keep bringing up Michael Jordan: why alienate half of your market?

Without a voice of sanity in the process, this stuff happens.

Actually they’re tipping their hand.
The Leftist plan IS to start changing the Bible.

All of the anti-Sodomy talk will have to go, for example.

Is the Joseph and Potiphar story in the Old Testament?
I admit, I’m not very Bible Literate any more.
I haven’t pondered those stories for a while, but should.

Hey Morg, ol’ darlin’,
If you had never posted this bilge, I wouldn’t have missed a thing. I’d be none the poorer. If you truly DO dislike this stuff, and personally avoid it like you say; why do you gather it up and dump it on US here at FR? How about those who WANT it ask you to ping it to them, and let us SANE people alone.

Ironic that the people who huff and puff angrily about Christians preaching to them are the very ones who absolutely cannot avoid inserting their own perverse agendas into every show. Adults are stupid and are only of use to pay for everything, children and teens are wise, homosexuals and lesbians are normal, every relationship should be biracial, and it just goes on and on.

The CW is the child of “UPN Network” and “The WB”.

UPN was United Paramount Network, which was owned by CBS.

The WB, of course, is Warner Brothers.

The merged entity, The CW, is half owned by CBS and Warner (AT&T now).

Thus why all of the program on the network are from WB or CBS.

From the wikipedia:

The CW Television Network (commonly referred to as just The CW) is an American English-language free-to-air television network that is operated by the CW Network, LLC, a limited liability joint venture[2] between CBS Corporation, the former owners of United Paramount Network (UPN), and AT&T, whose WarnerMedia subsidiary is the parent company of Warner Bros. Entertainment, former majority owner of The WB. The network's name is an abbreviation derived from the first letters of the names of its two parent corporations (CBS and Warner Bros.)

The CW Television Network made its debut on September 18, 2006, after its two predecessors, UPN and The WB, respectively ceased independent operations on September 15 and 17 of that year.

Not a CW viewer either, but bet the writer’s go-to faith to bash is Christianity. They’d probably never consider mocking the quaran.
