Russian Orthodox Church Has No Business in Ukraine – Poroshenko

Kiev, November 7, Interfax - The Russian Orthodox Church has no business in Ukraine, Ukrainian President Pyotr Poroshenko said.

In his speech at the high-level international conference "Lessons of a Hybrid Decade: What One Must Know to Move Forward Successfully" in Kiev on Wednesday, Poroshenko said, citing Putin, that Russia rests on two pillars: the Russian Orthodox Church and nuclear weapons.

"Is it okay that the Russian Security Council immediately meets under the leadership of Putin with one issue on the agenda - how to protect the Russian Orthodox Church in Ukraine? My dear, you have no business here. Your church, your armed forces, your weapons have no business here. Go home, to Russia," Poroshenko said.

He also said he hopes that Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew will not delay the convocation of a council in Ukraine to create a unified local Orthodox church and grant it a tomos on autocephaly.

Again: no fan of Poroshenko. But Ukrainian Christians deserve their autonomy to worship the LORD in peace without Kremlin interference.

Shut up, you disgusting oligarch Poroshenko!!!! The state-especially one established by a coup—has NO BUSINESS telling the Church what to do!!!!

At least our Orthodox Church in America recognizes the rightful Orthodox Church in Ukraine!!!!

And the farce of state religion on display:

Cuba's Raul Castro decorating Patriarch Kirill, leader of the Moscow Patriarchate of the Russian Orthodox Church. And below is Russian Orthodox clergy with North Korean dignitaries to celebrate 70 years of friendly Russia-NK relations.

Notice that greetings were NOT sent to “Metropolitan” Philaret.

The Ukrainian situation is bearing increasing resemblance to the great Western Schism of the papacy. Which Metropolitan is “Rome” and which is Avignon?

So lots of ethnic Mexicans live in California (which used to be part of Mexico) and Lots of Muslims live in France. What’s your point? Ukraine is not abolishing Freedom of Religion, its the Russian Orthodox Church which has wiped out spiritual freedom and Ukrainian cultural outlets in Crimea, Donbass, and mainland Russia.

Ukraine is not abolishing it? Really? You couldn’t tell that by the Ukrainian President’s words.

Poroshenko is a fool but:

Judging from its horrible treatment of Catholics, Protestants, and Ukrainian Orthodox clergy and believers: the Russian Orthodox ‘Church’ under current leadership is behaving as a political and military arm of the Kremlin than a church...and a threat to true Christians.

It may be that ALL of the political players in the Ukraine are corrupt but there is no political solution to the problem of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. It is strictly an issue of canon law.

There are three churches that call themselves Orthodox. One is Catholic, one is a schismatic sect, one is canonically Orthodox. The government of Ukraine has no say in the matter.

Countries do not get an autocephalous church just because they want one. No one just *deserves* one. The church under whom they function must grant it.

Bartholomew is taking actions that he has no right to take. He has not had jurisdiction for around 400 years.

Well it’s about time Constantinople and Kiev reclaim their God-given standing in Christendom.

At least the Serbian Orthodox Church—together with the Antiochian Orthodox Church—is working to remedy the situation! God bless them all!!!!
