“When a Government is Dishonest, it Dirties its Opponents With Slander" [Says Pope Francis]

Pope Francis in Santa Marta warns against “murmurs”, the ones that are “our daily bread” in our society, in the families, parishes and in politics

How often is there murmuring in our life? How often is there murmuring in society, in the dioceses (in this case in the parishes), in the family and even in politics. Especially in politics, because “when a government is not honest it seeks to dirty its opponents with murmuring. Whether it be defamation, slander, it is always looking for something [to criticize]...”, Francis affirms in the mass in Santa Marta today. “ Murmuring is our daily bread, at the level of persons, of the family, the parish, the diocese, the social level”, is the denunciation contained in the Pope’s homily reported, as always, by Vatican News.

Bergoglio points the finger in particular at “the ‘Infra-diocesan’ conflicts”, the internal conflict within the diocese, those that disfigure the face of the Church. And he observes how “ugly” it is that the same dynamics reproduce themselves, on a larger scale, in politics through accusations, slander, defamation. That’s what “dictatorial governments” do. What makes a dictatorial government? Taking control first of the means of communication with a law, and from there, it begins to murmur, to belittle everyone that is a danger to the government”.

Murmuring is the other side – the negative one- of bearing witness. Today’s Gospel, taken from Luke, proposes both these situations: the witness of Jesus eating with sinners and publicans and the murmuring of scribes and Pharisees for this gesture.

The “witness” of Jesus is “a new thing for that time,” Pope Francis stresses, “because going to sinners made you unclean, like touching a leper.” For this reason, the doctors of the law kept away from them.

Dont feel bad, we stopped giving the church money.

It’s evil to feed a propogandist that wants to enslave people with the Marxist yoke.

After reading the article, The unstated message I get from the pope is that packing the church with gay priests who like to fondle boys is a wonderful thing. And if anyone dares to criticizes this message, they’re a homophobe and Jesus will not be happy about it.

Sometimes you have to read between the lines.
