[Catholic Caucus] The USCCB’s uselessness as an agent of holiness is on display yet again.
The American Spectator ^ | November 14, 2018 | George Neumayr

In the early days of Baltimore, if a Catholic leader had proposed a religious gathering at a swanky hotel, he would have been ridiculed. Such a suggestion would have been taken as a mark of spiritual unseriousness. Ascetic, serious-minded bishops might meet in monasteries or religious houses to discuss matters of grave importance to the Church. But a hotel? That practice only became popular after worldly, faux-populist fetishes saturated the post-Vatican II Church.

And so now every November Catholics in the pews have to pony up hundreds of thousands of dollars for the bishops to enjoy a cushy get-away at such luxury hotels as the Inner Harbor Marriott (where they held it this year), with their creepy entourages and security teams in tow. Far from populist, the behavior of the bishops at the hotels is utterly insular. They spend much of the meeting hiding behind police officers, goons, six-figure mercenaries of one stripe or another, and a battalion of gray-haired ex-nuns turned witchy episcopal aides.

I saw some clips of this discussion. Granted, they were only clips and not representative of everything going on there.

But what I saw, in sum, was a lot of bureaucrats, speaking the bureaucrat-institutional-speak, slogans and cliches common in their organization. Lots of talk about “understanding.”

Motivation Remains Unclear for Vatican Request that US Bishops Delay Action

Register senior editor Matthew Bunson, who is attending this week’s meeting, said in his report on the first day’s proceedings that the Vatican directive Monday came as a “complete surprise to virtually all of the bishops” and that he saw it as a “deliberate act of humiliation” of the U.S. episcopate “at a time when they are trying in good faith to grapple with the greatest crisis in the history of American Catholicism.”

Bergoglio has given them an excuse for a coverup. Not likely to sit well with the U. S. Attorneys in Pittsburgh and Buffalo who’ve initiated a nation wide investigation of sex abuse and obstruction of justice in the RC Church.

As the collection plate dries up, it will be instructive to watch how each Parish and Diocese prioritize their budgets.

It may help to do as parishioners in Buffalo, NY have done, and start dropping notes in the collection plate, to the effect,

"Contributions will resume when Rome has cleaned up its mess."

Imagine if every parish received only a half-dozen of these notes every Sunday?!?!?

Yup. You are absolutely correct. Bergoglio thinks he has executed the perfect cover-up. But AG’s in dozens of states think otherwise.

Most of it will go to bulk mailers and telemarketers to pester the bejeebers out of us to give them money, I reckon.

More opportunities to send the "clean up your mess" message.

In my diocese, and one adjacent, the bishop levies a “tax” on the individual parishes, with the warning “Raise it by special collections if you want, but if you can’t it comes out of your general budget”.

I suspect he is an “Authorized User” on the parish checking accounts, so he can write himself a check whenever he wishes; shorting the collection plate hurts only the local parish.

Also in the case of each diocese, when the rampant homosexuality of the bishops/archbishops/cardinals became very public in June, the local bishops wrote namby-pamby “Letters to the Faithful” encouraging them to contact the diocese “Victim Advocate” if they had any concerns.

Homosexualists all.

Do as the parishioners in Buffalo did.

Include notes that say no $$ until the Bishop is gone.

Pass those on to the Bishop til he gets the message.

Also in the note, include:

"There are plenty of charities who more efficiently and faithfully have mercy on the needy."

Not all the Bishops fall under Neumayer’s description.

Not all bishops and priests are homosexuals. In fact, very few are.

I didn't say the Michigan bishops (and archbishop) are homosexuals; I said they are homosexualists.

Fans and defenders of homosexuals and homosexuality.

I used to do that to the Republican National Committee. Return the pre-paid envelopes they'd send me with a bunch of those McCain Pesos that used to be posted on FR. Never did any good.

Pope: Gossip kills and those who gossip are terrorists

Or: 'I only told the truth!'. Maybe, but you've revealed some personal or confidential facts. How much gossip destroys communion because of inappropriateness or lack of delicacy! Moreover: gossip kills and this was said by the apostle James in his Letter. The gossiper, the gossipers are people who kill: kill others, because the tongue kills like a knife. Be careful. A gossiper is a terrorist, because with his tongue he throws the bomb and leaves, and this thing that he says, that bomb that destroys other peoples’ reputation, and he goes away quietly. Do not forget: to gossip is to kill ".11/14/18

The USCCB is an evil construct of the Second Vatican Council. It is likely the singular heresy of Vatican II that did ass much to diminish the authority of the Church than any other error of that time.

Collegialism, as it is called, created the operational authority for the creation of the episcopal conferences. Almost every country or group of small nations have one. Here in the United States it is called the USCCB. It does many things, but the most destructive role they play is to diminish the authority of the bishops. Prior to Vatican II, each bishops was essentially “pope” in his own diocese. Today the decisions are made by the “faceless” USCCB.

We are told that God draws straight with crooked lines. If there is any good that can be said about the clerical sexual abuse of young boys, is that the curtain that has hidden the existence of the USCCB has been thrown open, and the faithful can see how evil this “committee of men” actually are.

There is only one answer to this problem and that is to completely abandon the USCCB (and all other episcopal conferences) and allow the bishops to answer to God alone as they did before Vatican II.
