Bishop Urges Other Bishops to be Honest About McCarrick Cover-Pp: ‘Be Men, Not Cowards’

JEFFERSON CITY, Missouri, November 20, 2018 (LifeSiteNews) – Bishop Shawn McKnight was “very disappointed” at the Holy See’s intervention last week prohibiting the U.S. bishops from taking action on measures to address sexual abuse.

“My frustration, shared with many other people, is this,” Bishop McKnight of the Diocese of Jefferson City explained. “We have known about the scandal of Archbishop McCarrick since the end of June, and our Church must take immediate, decisive and substantive action in light of the deep wound the scandal has caused.”

It’s not so much the time it’s taking to punish McCarrick, he said, and more is needed beyond punishment of the perpetrator.

“How could his rise to such an influential position in the Church have happened?” he questioned. “I am concerned how the national conference of bishops and the Holy See answer that question.”

The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops’ (USCCB) General Assembly took place November 12 to 15 in Baltimore.

The meeting served to prolong Catholics’ anger over the abuse scandal, after the Vatican blocked the U.S. bishops from voting on two measures designed to address abuse related to bishops, and a motion to officially ask the Holy See to release documents related to the McCarrick case failed to pass.

The Holy See insisted the U.S. Bishops not act upon any proposed anti-sex abuse measures until after Pope Francis meets with the presidents of the world’s episcopal conferences in Rome in February. USCCB President Cardinal Daniel DiNardo will attend that meeting.

In a column written following the Assembly, McKnight called for substantial lay involvement in addressing the abuse crisis – an idea that received some pushback during the meeting.

He also said those culpable at any level in the McCarrick cover-up should come forward now of their.....

It did. It told you to shut up and sit down.

Because the Catholic Church is now controlled by homosexuals and paedophiles?

Highly motivated, fully self-conscious, organized minorities commonly wield vastly disproportionate influence in large organizations. Rank and file Catholics are in a position very similar to rank and file Democrats over the last couple of decades who scratch their heads and wonder how the party got hijacked by the far left. Too often, the majority is not aware of the seriousness of the problem until it is too late.

Part of the syndrome is that well-meaning, constructive critics are dismissed as conspiracy theorists. The word "conspiracy" has taken on such negative connotations that it functions as a discussion stopper. But highly networked, semi-secret coalitions are very common. They think of themselves as leadership cadres. And they DO move institutions in powerful ways.

So yes, the RCC does have a problem with the Lavender Mafia. Just at the Democratic Party has a problem with the anti-American, socialist, anti-democratic, anti-Christian, anti-Western civilization and operationally anti-white movement left. The Democratic Party is almost terminal. The RCC is getting close to that point.

It did not.

"The Church" does not equal "The Vatican". "The Church" = "The people of God.".

"The Vatican", with that strange, shapeshifting Peronist at the top --- pause and take another breath --- is a clerical bureaucracy which is supposed to serve The Church. The Pope is supposed to be "servum servorum Dei" (the servant of the servants of God.)

"The Church" (in its plenary sense of "Body of Christ") has reason to be pretty wrathy, at the point, with some of those princelings who do not know they are supposed to be true shepherds, not hirelings, weasels or wolves.

“The Church” does not equal “The Vatican”.

I imagine you’d get an argument on that point from this fool Pope.

I’m sure I’d get into 10,000 arguments with PF. He ought to become more familiar with the Catechism of the Catholic Church if he wants to be a more adequate Catholic.

He’d most likely say almost the same thing to you.

But I wish you good luck and will pray for your success.

Enjoy your Thanksgiving!
