One area that has not remained stable is Mass attendance. From 2014-2017, not a single age group of Catholics reported a majority attending Mass each week. In 2018, only about 36 percent of Catholics said they had been to Mass within the last week. That number is a drop from 45 percent in 2008, and 75 percent in 1955.

The hierarchy of the Catholic Church is increasingly resembling the Boy Scouts of America.
They got comfortable, allowed perversion and doubt to creep in - and as a response, are simply surrendering to it and the post-modern, secular world.

In an organization as focused and dependent on hierarchy as the Catholic Church, this seems a foreboding omen.
But perhaps this is part of the two Popes’ plan to turn the papacy into a collegial organization? I know they are supposed to be trying to make ecumenical union easier with the Lutherans and Anglicans. But I didn’t realize part of the plan was to reduce the size of the Church to something comparable to the Church of England.

“Franks plan is working!”
Yes, America had Barak Obola, but we got rid of him. The Catholic Church has Frank, and it is “sticking with him!” No wonder Catholics are not attending Mass. Decent Catholics need to “take back” their church.

Francis will have some mealy-mouthed words about this to try to smooth it over.
While nothing in his plan changes.

Only 31 percent of American Catholics now rate the honesty or ethical standards of the clergy as high or very high. Can we assume the 31% are people who don't know how to use a computer, or read a newspaper, or turn on a TV?

If you watch through history this is a common patten not only for churches but with all Christian institutions including colleges, seminaries, affiliations. And a disaffected orthodox faction splits off, goes its own way and the cycle starts anew. The Apostle Jude warned us about this and its been a constant threat to every generation, one we must be ever vigilant against.

The Catholic Doctrine of No Salvation Outside the Church Never in Scripture. Salvation is in Christ alone.
Come on home!
I did. Home to Him, eternal life, and assurance of salvation.
Wouldn't trade it for anything and especially a religious system of useless rituals and works and perpetual guilt.

The obvious point in this report is that we dont trust the clergy but still trust the doctrine. I personally dont get up on Sundays and wonder if I should go to mass because a Cardinal somewhere is a child molester. For the fist time I realized what it was all about I concluded Vatican Ii was fixong something that wasnf broken
