Catholic priest 'failed to maintain proper boundaries' in additional report, Diocese of Austin says

A Catholic priest, who was arrested for allegedly groping a woman in October 2018, has been removed from the Diocese of Austin after the diocese said he "failed to maintain proper boundaries with an adult" in an unrelated incident in February.

According to the affidavit for the arrest of Gerold Langsch, 75, the victim suffers from several medical conditions and was put in hospice care after falling ill from diabetes. However, police said the victim, who is still alive, was fully aware of what was happening when she made the allegations.

Police said the victim's ex-husband contacted the Knights of Columbus, a Catholic-based service organization, to inform them of the victim's illness.

Langsch arrived at the victim's home to give her last rites and anointed her with holy water on her chest three times, according to the affidavit.

Police said Langsch allegedly pulled out a different bottle after anointing the victim and applied lotion to the victim's chest.

Langsch then allegedly groped the woman's breast and asked her, "does that feel good?"

It is good that they didn’t wait 20 or 30 years to arrest this priest.

priests need to be allowed to marry.Yes,it’s true that Christ never married but I *cannot* believe that He,having a perfect understanding of human nature, would expect a man to be without the companionship of a woman for his *entire* life.

NOW you’re gonna get it.

Dontcha know that has NOTHING to do with all of the pedophilia and cases like this?

Even though my Catholic church is FALLING APART because of these things.

You’ll hear about ALL the priests folks here know that would NEVER touch a child or woman or themselves and haven’t for 60 years!!!!!!!

It’s a lie of course.

Unless they were trained by Tibetan monks. Though I don’t live among Tibetan monks so who knows if they fool around or not.

I did read an article about how Ghandi had girls sleep around him to test his temptation. And he failed a lot.

Women commenting is hysterical because they have NO IDEA of the male sex drive.

Men here saying they’ve gone 10 or 15 years without sex OR anything else are lying or don’t feel anything below the waist.

IT WASN’T UNTIL THE 1200’s!!!! that it was made definitive that priests couldn’t get married and it was about THE MONEY HONEY!

Losing land and cash to their kids and wives, the Catholic church was.

No less than FOUR priests at my Catholic high school were caught in the act with boys from the school. Those are the ones that were CAUGHT.

Out of 3 priests at my parish, one left and got married, one fondled a girl on his lap.

But let’s close our eyes EVEN TIGHTER and it will go away.

If this was any other organization a RICO case could be made against them and it would stick.

Figuratively burn the whole thing to the ground starting with the communist Pope and start over again

Married men commit such acts on women that they are not married to and to which they have no relationship.

Married protestant ministers commit these acts.

It is a fault in the man not the Church.

What does that have to do with a priest groping a woman while administering a Sacrament?

You think getting married prevents this kind of lecherous behavior?

You never heard of Roman Polanski? Harvey Weinstein? Bill Cosby?

Need I go on?

so his “male sex drive” made him reach out and feel up a lady that was dying? No self control necessary? Of course not. He’s a REAL man.

He's definitely the last Pope and he understands that he is and is fulfilling his evilness just as his master wants.

He's not stupid. He knows exactly what he is doing.

Some will want to give him a break but no one should and that's how he is getting away with destroying what's left of the Catholic church

Never be surprised at what elderly people do for a thrill, particularly when they are old enough to use failing health as an excuse. Remember Bush41?

I had made friends with a retired baseball announcer who still had close ties with ballclub. He invited me to see a game in a VIP section where many seated nearby seemed to know the announcer like old friends. These were all folks in their 70s and 80s. They’d come up to each other and said the most forward, suggestive, ribald things to each other’s wives with their spouses seated right there listening to it.

I was shocked because I had listened and looked up to this man in my youth and still admired him. How could he talk that way around his wife and son?

Then it dawned on me that these seniors talked this way because everybody *knew* nothing was going to happen but the women must have found it flattering that the men could still speak crude advances to them and the women gave the same back in return. It allowed both to feel younger and still attractive, denying for the moment the sterility of their advanced years.

I still thought it was disgusting but, at their age, “dirty talk” was all that was left and as long as nobody acted on the suggestions, it was relatively harmless.

Keep in mind that the article says he is 75. There may be some mental impairment setting in. It often happens in these cases that men lose control of their normal behavior. No excuse for what happened, have just heard of this from many caretakers.

he should not be ministering to anybody if he does not have control of himself.

OK,a summary (from my point of view) of priests committing sex crimes/sins:

The only men who have no desire to marry (a woman) are fags.Until recently the only careers that such pervs had open to them were hair dresser, fashion designer, interior decorator and Catholic priest.Given their basically perverse state of mind they're gonna be strongly inclined to commit crimes/sins against men and boys.Yes,some men who like,or seem to like, women commit such crimes but they are *very* much the exception to the rule. That basically sums up the situation with priests and choir boys.

As for the sins/crimes that priests commit against women and girls it *is* true that married men are known to do such things but they do so far,*far* less frequently than do unmarried men.

Never having been a woman I can't speak with any real authority about women's sex drive but I *can* guarantee that in normal men the need for a woman's "companionship" is almost as strong as is his need for air...water...food.

It's the way we (men) were made...and Christ, having a *perfect* understanding of us,knows that.

I like you have never been a woman.

I do consider myself a normal man.

I have never sexually assaulted a woman. The only woman I have ever had sex with is my wife.

Sexual urges can be controlled just like the urge to eat, sleep, defecate, urinate or speak.

One thing that I could add is that the priest in question is 72. This man of advanced age may be affected by the early stages of senility. Senility in men often causes them to lose their sexual inhibitions.

Thank you for confirming the point I made in Post #3.You're absolutely correct to observe that the urge to eat...sleep...urinate can be controlled. And,BTW,you forgot to mention "breathe". But picture yourself being informed,at age 30 (just to pick an age at which a man might be ordained) that you'll never again be able to breathe...eat...etc. I made the same point about about sexual needs when I said (in Post #3) "for his *entire* life".

Yes,my Dad lived to 88 and in the last few years of his life he experienced a steep, and heartbreaking, decline in his physical health *and* his brain functioning. For the last year or so of his life he started doing things that he never would have done in a million years when he was neurologically intact.I've seen brain deterioration in the elderly...up close and personal.

"It's the way we (men) were made...and Christ, having a *perfect* understanding of us,knows that."<[> I agree that Christ had a perfect understanding of us (and you.) That's probably why He said, "Anyone who looks at a woman to lust after her, has committed sdultry with her in his heart."

That's why even "coveting" is prohibited in the Ten Commandments. Because Jesus is a moral realist.

Also not s ure what this has to do with a priest in his 70's groping a seriously ill woman.

The homosexual cabal is very real and very dangerous, but I see this particular offense (getting handy with a woman) as being somewhat outside of that paradigm. It's a pretty common boundary offense in nursing homes, I think, and they are not, to my knowledge, run by homosexuals.
