Pete Buttigieg: It’s “Immoral” for Christians to Ignore Climate Change, But Abortion Up to Birth OK

Ignoring the millions of unborn babies who have been slaughtered in abortions, presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg suggested that true Christians would take care of their neighbor by supporting his environmental policies.

Buttigieg, a pro-abortion Democrat and the mayor of South Bend, Indiana, touted his Christian faith during a climate change town hall Wednesday, according to National Review.

“Let’s talk in language that is understood across the heartland about faith,” he said. “If you believe that God is watching as poison is being belched into the air of creation, and people are being harmed by it, countries are at risk of vanishing in low-lying areas, what do you suppose God thinks of that?

“I bet he thinks it’s messed up,” he continued. “You don’t have to be religious to see the moral dimensions of this because frankly every religious and non-religious moral tradition tells us that we have some responsibility of stewardship, some responsibility for taking care of what’s around us, not to mention taking care of our neighbor. . . . At least one way of talking about this is that it’s a kind of sin.”

So, not supporting his specific policies on the environment is “a kind of sin” – but supporting abortion for any reason up to birth is not?

Buttigieg, like his fellow Democratic presidential candidates, has a radical pro-abortion platform that is vastly out of line with the faith he claims to follow. Christianity clearly condemns the killing of innocent human beings, and scripture recognizes the value of babies in the womb.

But, as mayor of South Bend, Buttigieg tried to stop a pregnancy resource center from opening down the street from an abortion facility. Then, earlier this year, he celebrated when an abortion chain that amassed dozens of health and safety violations opened a new location there.

He openly embraces the evil of abortion, while slamming pro-life Christians like Vice President Mike Pence as “hypocrites.”

In August, when asked about abortions in the third trimester, Buttigieg said he thinks they should be legal.

“The bottom line is, as horrible as that choice is, that woman, that family, may seek spiritual guidance, they may seek medical guidance, but that decision isn’t going to be made any better, medically or morally, because the government is dictating how that decision should be made,” he said.

More than 60 million babies have been killed in America since Roe v. Wade. And many Democrat politicians want to expand abortion access, as if enough babies have not been killed already. If Buttigieg really cares about loving his neighbor and preserving the planet for future generations, he should start by defending protections for the unborn.

I pray for those whose narcissism and lust for power over others blinds them to truth and wisdom, so that they fall into a place where neither truth nor wisdom cannot be found.

When such people gain power, many years of civilization can be lost through poverty, war and, yes, disease. Dictatorships never promote peace or anything else positive for humanity.
