“I was sinking deep in sin, far from the peaceful shore. Very deeply stained with sin, sinking to rise no more. But the master of the sea, heard my despairing cry. And from the waters lifted me. Now safe am I. Love Lifted me when nothing else could help. Love lifted me!”

What a great hymn.

Peter and then the disciples are in trouble and to whom do they call to?

JESUS.

There is a tremendous lesson in this verse.

They don't pray to the saints in Heaven.

They don't pray to Mary.

They go straight to Christ.

All prayers is to be directed to the Creator and not the created.

They also realized there was nothing they could do to save themselves. It was only their belief in Christ that could and did save them.

Well; these folks had not been given any special status by the church at this time.
