Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

I belong to an online book club, and yesterday I received this recommendation. "So You've Been Publicly Shamed" by Jon Ronson.

While the book is about "Internet Shaming" there is a whole section devoted to a NYT Best Selling author who actually LIED about Bob Dylan, inventing six quotations that supposedly explained Dylan's creative process in writing a song. This, of course, could be easily checked by Dylan's Management, and by the Nobel Laureate himself. A storm of public shame followed, resulting in the author's being fired from The New Yorker, and the publisher's recall of the remaining books. Further inquiry into the author's work found plagiarism, misquotes, and outright lies, as well as a lot of recycling of his own material (well...that part is not so bad...Tchaikovsky did that too!).

What is perhaps the most glaring problem is that the author (Jonah Lehrer) was able to get away with this for so long. Of course, the acclaim of being a Best-Selling-Author, makes the "Fall" so much more difficult and shameful.

A few days ago, I wrote the word "Canadian" when I should have written "Acadian". I was wrong. I am sorry. Perhaps the quarantine is getting to me! In any case, I am navigating this alone and try to be original and truthful every day. It's not easy, but you can bet I won't be attributing fake quotes to Bob Dylan! :-)

Tomorrow will be the last Hebrew Worship Word that we will derive from Strong's Concordance. We will continue looking at Music in The Bible, and will not visit Strong's again until we get to the New Testament. Then it will be Greek, which, like English, reads from left to right, rather than right to left like Hebrew. This little difference has been wreaking havoc with my formatting (HTML doesn't like the right-to-left stuff), but the Greek words will not be as difficult.

In the meantime, we will go back to the time of Solomon and his Temple, and the importance of Music in that setting. See you tomorrow!
