The war of Gog and Magog, is a final battle prophesied in the Book of Ezekiel which consists of a type of ‘End of Days’ World War that ushers in the final redemption.
But could a third world war really be on the horizon? When looking at the in rise international hostilities taking place worldwide between nations, the notion of such an apocalyptic battle seems to be an extremely realistic scenario. The following is a list of international hostilities that if erupt simultaneously, can spiral into a Third World War. And due to modern defense technology, the devastation can be unprecedented. A war of this magnitude can potentially be waged any day now…even as early as tomorrow.

Yet Revelation 20 says the war of Gog/Magog occurs after the thousand year reign of Christ. A bit of a problem for premillennialism.
True, however Ezekiel 39: 9-10 describes the scene as taking 7 years to clean up after the Battle of Armageddon. Could the 7 years be the Great Tribulation? No idea, I do know we are not there yet, but all the blocks are being put into place....Third Temple...one world government, one world “ currency”, ...for now I am just marveling how everything is coming together.
This essay seems like an attempt to immanentize the eschaton.
The U.S. would lose a few cities; China would be reduced to the stone age. But the economic disruptions alone would kill off about a third of the planet's population.
Ezekiel 38 & 39 seems to be about Satan and nations declaring war on Israel whereas Rev. 20 is about Satan and nations declaring war on God.

And there are just as many opinions as to why it’s mentioned in Ezekiel.
Yes those 7 years could actually mean that the War/Battle takes place 7 years before the Mid-Point of the Tribulation.
Since Israel will need those 7 years to burn up the weapons, and the last 3.5 years of the Trib, she is running for her very life in hiding. So I don’t know if it could be the entire Trib to burn those weapons.
I have always viewed The Gog/Magog war as pre-tribulation, but post-rapture. I could easily be wrong however.
Ezekiel describes it as a war on Israel.
John describes it as a Satanic war on Jesus Himself.

The battle between Gog and Magog is at least 1003.5 years in the future.
