Thank you. Great article.
If you've ever been to Antietam, you know that's it's an erie place. I was too young to appreciate it when I was there.

Venial sins may be forgiven through pious reception of the Eucharist. But in view of the serious nature of mortal sin, Jesus instituted the sacrament of penance.
So few people go to Confession now, I'm wondering if that is because we have lost the nature of sin. Most Catholics these days probably could not identify mortal sin and thus the need for Confession.

You learn something new every day. I subscribe to Columbia magazine, as a Third Degree Knight, and when I first read the part about how pious reception of the Eucharist forgives venial sins, I was amazed. Even with my Catholic education, reading tons about the Catholic faith, and my own personal devotion, I had never heard that. I felt blessed. For even if I have committed venial sins, I still go to Confession. It's good to know about this, even though I think it's a good idea to go to Confession at least once a month. It's good to know, for the opportunities for Reconciliation are less than receiving Communion, and we so easily fall into venial sin, due to our human weakness.

What a wonderful address. I have been wondering why I have seen photos of our soldiers in Iraq with rosary beads in their hands, since AmChurch seems to have dropped all of the devotions that keep the faith alive on a daily basis. But now that I see what kind of priest is in charge of the military chaplains, I see the reason for this! I wish our bishops were as devout and faith-filled as the military vicar.

Saw this great man on "World Over Live" a few months ago. Would that all of our bishops and priests emulated his actions and words.
He's the kind of shepherd who stands for absolute Truth and not the "dialoguing question mark" that far too many of our shepherds embody.

The only thing that I wish Bishop O'Brien would allow is an indult of the Traditional Latin Mass.
