I wore pinks and greens in ROTC then wore the Army green uniform on active duty. At least the pinks and greens looked like a military uniform and people didn’t confuse you with a bus driver.

I was one of the last flights at Lackland AFB to be issued 1505 khaki uniforms in 1975 before the 1550/1551 uniform was phased in. Some of mine had clearly been on the depot shelf for years, possibly back before 1947. They clearly had either a gray or a pink hue next to my coworkers. I bought the new uniform as soon as I could afford it. I don't remember how many years we had for a grace period.
