Nah, he's just getting desperate in the face of the opposition movement.. a few weeks / months and his regime will be history. So he's standing there crying wolf, hoping the west will react and he has a foreign scapegoat to rally the Iranians.

So Mahmoud the douchenozzle has two choices: Either he catches a flight to Venezuela as the opposition takes Tehran or he has to provoke a war. For the American taxpayer, option 1. is certainly the better, i.e. cheaper one.
