During a Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee on Tuesday, Sen. Paul made a comparison between the Gang of Eight's proposed immigration bill and ObamaCare which, on its face, might be considered fightin’ words betwixt the circles of the GOP — but, he was really making a solid point about the intricacies and potential implementation pitfalls of massive legislative packages pushed hastily through Congress.
I, for one, am for immigration reform. … That being said, I’m worried that the bill before us won’t pass. May pass the Senate, may not pass the House. I want to be constructive in making the bill strong enough that conservatives, myself included, conservative Republicans in the House, will vote for this because I think immigration reform is something we should do. In this bill, I’m worried though… it says, well, you have to have a plan to build a fence, but you don’t have to build a fence. And if you don’t have a plan to build a fence, then you get a commission. I don’t know what happens if the commission doesn’t do anything. That’s the story of Washington around here. To me, it’s a little bit like Obamacare, and I hate to bring that up, but 1800 references to the “secretary shall at a later date” decide things. We don’t write bills around here. We should write the bill, we should write the plan, we should do these things to secure the border, whether it be fence, entry-exit, we should write it, not delegate it, because, what’s going to happen in five years, if they don’t do their job — it may not even be them, it may be somebody else who doesn’t do their job in five years — and the border’s not secure, we will be blamed for the next ten million people who come here illegally.
Sen. Paul went on to ask that the Homeland Security get a chance to mark up the bill so they can plow through the details and offer amendments, not because he’s trying to kill the bill, but because national security is a big part of immigration and he wants to make the bill “better so we can pass it. I think the stronger this bill is, the better chance we have of passing it.”
Paul is on-the-record in favor of the basic ideas behind the immigration package, so while that one line might initially sound like borderline blaspheming, his essential point is merely expanding on Sen. Rubio’s constant refrain: That the bill is a “starting point” and he’s looking for plenty of time to debate, mark up, and change the bill to make it more effective and avoid the years of consequences from shoddy framework. The Democrats are currently living that nightmare firsthand.

Waiting for the chorus of “Oh, but Rand Paul doesn’t want AMNESTY!!”
This is easy to cure.
Allow anyone who can pass a security check; who can support themselves, or who has someone supporting them in to work. For twenty years they can NOT access for themselves or children they produce any social services or payments.
They must also show for twenty years they are 125% above the poverty line.
Then get them a green card IMO.
IMO once you stop benefits for them and their children and force payment of taxes, they will go home. Too expensive to legally live here. Many draw benefits and work the gray market at the same time.
Too bad Rand Paul has his own Amnesty program where he wants to “Normalize” 2 million Undocumented Democrats each and every year.
What a freakin’ hypocrite!
ObamaCare is just a “train wreck”. Amnesty is going to be the Mother of All Train Wrecks.

This bill needs to be stopped. What is he thinking!?
Rand Paul is so obvious on immigration. He’s triangulating. He’s been all for “comprehensive reform”, proposing his own bill that will never see the light of day. He has kept himself in the debate, mostly immunized himself from the attacks from the Leftist media, and will end up LOUDLY opposing the bill for reasons that separate him from other conservatives. Clever stuff, but not principled in the least. It might be too clever by half.
No kidding, Rand.

I don’t get it.
Rand Paul gives every indication he will run for president on the GOP ticket in 2016.
But he wants to create 12 million new Democrat voters before he even starts.

ILLEGAL immigrants are currently eligible for almost every kind of welfare offered in the state of Washington.
How?
They are not required to show any documents that confirm they are in the USA legally.
Why would they agree to sign up for your Amnesty when that will take away all the welfare rights they currently have?
Sounds more like Rand is jealous because its Rubio-Obama Amnesty and not Randmesty....or something like that
We really need to address why our politicians care more about illegals then the rest of us.
So why not just stop the gravy train and make them go home now?

Meanwhile, they reproduce like rats and after 20 years, each illegal will be responsible for a nest of potential welfare recipients and Democrat voters.
Furthermore, if anyone is stupid enough to believe the government will refrain from giving them welfare and all free government services that go with it during their 20 years, they are a fool. I predict that once the bill passes, it won’t be more than 3 months that they will be allowed to have welfare. After all, it’s for the children.
It's comical because right now we can't even stop them from voting.
Ok, not so funny, but the truth. Should lend perspective to any liberal crap they are trying to push with this amnesty bill.
Anyone who supports this legislation should be turned out of office.
