Rand Paul Campaign Sends Cease-And-Desist To Stations Running Iran Attack Ad

A lawyer for the Rand Paul campaign has sent a legal notice to TV stations that ran a hawkish attack ad based on Paul's views on Iran, calling the ad defamatory and asking stations to stop showing it.

The letter is an objection to a million-dollar ad buy by a group called the Foundation for a Secure and Prosperous America, led by Republican operative Rick Reed. The ad, which launched in early primary states on the day of Paul's presidential campaign announcement, accuses Paul of supporting President Obama's policies on Iran and of opposing new sanctions.

"The Advertisement attempts to deceive voters regarding Senator Rand Paul's position on U.S.-Iran relations through at least three false statements," writes Paul campaign general counsel Matthew T. Sanderson in the letter dated April 7, which was obtained by BuzzFeed News on Thursday.

From what I can find, they are using Rands own words to support their claims, some of which are quotes from interviews he has given. Doesn’t sound like Paul is going to get anywhere threatening them.

Paul is an idiot. He should welcome attacks but instead he threatens to sue his attackers. He should be pleased if they spell his name correctly.

Rands own words are that we need to negotiate with Iran and he also maintains that Iran poses no threat to the U.S. or Israel. Completely looney! The ad uses his own words, quotes from interviews he has given.

Paul is the Dem dream, even MSNBC was praising him for his speech where he said this.

In the AD’s they used his own words and refuses to answer anything on his flip flops. Hates if anyone brings out his own words and is arrogant and rude.

If you have positions offensive to the American people you need to run as a Democrat.

If Rand figures that out the Democratic Party nomination will be his to lose.
