Antifa aims to preserve safety of community through response (barf alert)
dailycal.org ^ | May 2, 2017 | MEMBERS OF BERKELEY ANTIFA

Our opponents push the misconception that, by militantly confronting them, we are stifling their free speech. We may be a bunch of leftists and anarchists, but we’ve still read the Constitution.

The First Amendment protects you from government censorship. It does not allow you to impose on the 14th Amendment rights of others, prevent other people from using their freedoms of speech and assembly to hold you accountable for the things you say, or guarantee you a right to a paid speaking gig on a college campus.

Ultimately, the bloc’s actions against Milo Yiannopoulos were not in response to the things he says, but the things he does. Yiannopoulos has a history of targeted harassment of transgender, Muslim and undocumented students at his campus speeches. On the night of Feb. 1, he planned to use his platform to teach the crowd how to report undocumented students to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. It was also rumored he planned to out undocumented students.

This is not protected speech. You can’t yell “fire” in a crowded theater and you can’t out undocumented students on a sanctuary campus.

Despite all of this, the UC Berkeley administration chose to put their students in danger. We decided this was unacceptable. You may disagree with our actions, but if it protected even one student from being targeted, then we are not ashamed.

I hope these evil terrorists will be arrested, prosecuted, and imprisoned for the rest of their lives. We all know the local police won’t do their job, not in Berkeley, but I’ll be cheering for the FBI to take the Antifa thugs down through lawful means.

Whether terrorists are Catholic (IRA years ago), Muslim (multiple current groups), or communist/anarchist (Antifa fascists), they belong behind bars for decades after they initiate violence. Failing that, I hope they choose the wrong victims and get taken down permanently by real Americans engaged in real self-defense.

Actually it does guarantee you a right to a paid speaking gig on a college campus, if the college administration agrees to it. It does not give you a right to use violence to disrupt it.

If you haven’t, I’d urge you to read mainestategop’s interview with Antifa a few posts down; it will show you the evil we face. They admit to taking pleasure in murdering American veterans, and in having actually done this

We are anti-fascists. We are not paramilitary, outside agitators, or punks looking for a fight. We are members of this community who are invested in its safety.

Yeah, just regular common folk freedom fighters. /s

The War for America is upon us and it is heating up.

You not only can but ethically you must yell "Fire!" in a crowded theater when the theater is on fire.. This is doubly true if the local fire department are a bunch of pyromaniacs who love to watch theaters burn. Likewise reporting an illegal to Immigration is more necessary in a scofflaw city or campus.

>>”Ultimately, the bloc’s actions against Milo Yiannopoulos were not in response to the things he says, but the things he does.” <<

It then goes on to list a bunch of things he SAID and not a single thing he DID.

The only thing antifa (anti-first amendment) has going for it is it is a stupid organization top to bottom.

You better shut up and respect our first amendment right to silence you and smash your face in with bike locks.

Make up the rules as you go along .... but they don’t realize that this is a 2 way street.

You can’t this, you can’t that ... Anyone can come up with my a list of you cant’s and get a violent mob to enforce them just as they are doing.

We are members of this community who are invested in its safety.

Didn't the Mafia say the same thing? We're just here to make sure you get home safely and don't break your leg or worse.

I doubt these little pinheads have even read the 14th Amendment, let alone made any attempt to understand its meaning. An illegal immigrant has no standing under the 14th.

The trick in dealing with terrorist thugs like these is they work in mobs, and you need back up - more than just two or three people. They like the taser or stun gun trick, preferably from behind, and they like stomping on people who have been hit from behind. The solution is obvious, but no one is tough enough to discourage their thuggery solo.

Then take legal action...But they don't want to...Because its all just an excuse to violently attack those they disagree with.

Actually, you CAN yell fire in a crowned theater. There is no prior restraint. It is only afterward that you are liable.
Suppressing opposing viewpoints is not ‘protecting the community.’ It criminal behavior, pure and simple.
