Egypt: “Events in Afrin are reminiscent of the Armenian Genocide”

The Egyptian Parliament issued a warning that methods of annihilation and exile Turkey utilizes in Afrin are reminiscent of the Armenian Genocide.

The Egyptian Parliamentary committee on the matters of Arab countries issued a statement and stressed that the invasion of Afrin is “an ethnic cleansing”.

The statement warned against an ethnic cleansing against Kurds in Rojava and Southern Kurdistan and stressed that Turkey’s attacks against Afrin and Shengal are attacks against the independence of Syria and Iraq.

The statement also pointed out the massacres and exile involved in the invasion of Afrin and said the events are reminiscent of the genocide against the Armenian people in 1915: “These mass executions are reminiscent of the genocide the Armenian people suffered in the Ottoman empire during World War I.”

The committee’s statement called on the United Nations (UN) and demanded Turkey withdraw their troops from Syria and Iraq, and issued the criticism that the silence in the face of the invasions is grieving.

Egyptians overthrew Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood terrorists. Where did they move their headquarters to? Turkey.

Egypt knows what Islamists are. They have no intention of having them in their country again.

They know what Erdogan the Islamist's Turkey is doing.

The World must be shown the reality of this.

An Egyptian friend of mine showed me a picture of ISIS leaders being transported by bus to Efrin at the time of the fall. He knew then that there were 3,000 (documented) ISIS in the assault on Efrin. Along with many al Qaeda Terrorists.

Nope.

Kemal’s body is rolling over in his grave.

He had no use for what are now called Islamists.

A muslim country, Egypt, calling out another muslim country, Turkey, for present and past genocides.
Interesting.

Egypt looking to take a leadership role in the ME?

All indications are that we and much of the rest of the world is facing one incredibly stinky problem with Turkey.

Dopey statement, but it is so hard to imagine that this kind of crap can go on in the 21 st century. Not that 5,000 examples have not been provided.

Oh, they lead. They are a relatively poor country. But have been a good ally in the recent past. Except during Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhoods 1 year in control.

Remember, It was an English holding for a long time.

President Sisi was General Sisi when Morsi was overthrown. He refused orders for the military to fire on civilians and arrested Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood leadership. (With the help of Obama they had stolen the election, after 1 year the Egyptians rebelled in the millions in the streets.)

General Sisi was trained in the US. He is a highly respected by the citizens of of Egypt. The terrorists hate him and fear him. He has worked closely with Israel in eliminating terrorists in the region between them.

I have Christian and Muslim Egyptian friends who now live in Egypt. They are all fine people, love their country and each other, and are as far away from being jihadists and fundamentalists/Salafis as you could possibly imagine.

I remember the populace calling on Al Sissi to depose Morsi and the MB.
I also knew Sissi has been working with Israel. Always a chancey thing in the ME, I remember what happened to Sadat.

I did NOT know Sissi had been trained in the US.

I should have said Egypt may be taking a more vocal leadership role.
The ME is in turmoil, and how this all shakes out is going to be very interesting.

Yes, I agree.

Imagine a time when Israel and Saudi Arabia are cooperating on security matters? It is happening.

Yes, there is a stigma among Arabs about associating with Israel.

The is what is behind the Turkey, Iran, Syria, Russia handling of Efrin. Hate of anyone who Jews befriend. (Israel and SA both offered to recognize Kurdistan.)

Yes, these are interesting times. My friends in Syria are super sensitive about possibility of US betraying them. I don’t blame them, but don’t think it will happen. It should not.

Yes, I agree. Made friends there before Morsi was removed and our friendship is still very strong. We still share news events of importance to one another.

I have friends like that in many countries. Over time it has happened.

Had some of that in my younger years. Spent a lot of time on Ham Radio. I’m an old rag chewer. smile.

The British left us a real mess when they divvied up the old Ottoman empire. No care at all given to facts on the ground. Just draw some lines and call it done.

The new leadership in SA is sure shaking things up. More or less openly dealing with Israel and taking down his brother “princes” for generally being pains in the butt, as well as corruption.

The Kurds need a country of their own. They deserve a country of their own.
Hopefully we don’t betray them.

If Arabs would only think they would realise the Israelis could be their best friends. God knows their own leaders won’t lift the average Arab out of poverty.

this is the first encouraging thing I’ve read since Erdragon (sp) attacked the Kurdish area and the US has remained silent about it.

I could not agree with you more. But it is now how the Arabs or the Turks are brought up to think about things.

It is Clan against Clan and sect against sect, with hate as the cement that has dried for centuries.

But yes, I believe the young Saudi Prince wants to make things better. They already tried to kill him, so he must be doing something right.

Lets hope some sanity can be brought to the end of fighting in Syria.

I think Trump is more informed about this than the press will admit. I think he will find a way out of this.

If not, we’ll here we are.

I’m not looking for “world peace”, this is not a beauty contest. In the real world if some of the ME butchery can be stopped, it is a huge improvement.

I hadn’t realised the Prince had been targeted. Not surprising. They are, on average, seventh century barbarians with oil money.
Was the attempt before or after he “detained” his brother royals?

I wouldn’t bet on what President Trump knows. He surprises me constantly with the breadth and depth of his knowledge.
Having his SIL as a special envoy to the ME can only help. I know Arabs look favorably on family members sent to do business with them. Its sort of an Asian “face” thing, it says to them they are important. That is how they do business.

Yeah, Peace On Earth ain’t happening anytime soon.
We are living in interesting and frightening times.
Curious as to what the outcome looks like.
