California-funded travel to the state of Oklahoma has been banned, starting June 22, because of a new Oklahoma law that allows adoption agencies to deny placement services to same-sex parents, state officials announced on Friday.

A California law passed last year prohibits state-sponsored travel to states with laws that allow discrimination based on sexual or gender orientation. Seven other states are already on the ban list: Alabama, Kansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Dakota and Texas.

A travel ban from several Muslim terrorist nations is bad but a travel ban to several states is good. Go figure.

I think we have to be liberal to understand the logic involved.

Just more virtue signaling going on here.

How much state employee travel is there to Oklahoma from California in the first place?

I recall a few years ago, LA instituted a ban on doing business with Arizona. This was the protest in Arizona’s law in dealing with illegals.

Then, it was discovered that LA gets about 25% of its electricity from Arizona. At that point they decided to rescind the ban on business with Arizona.

In that case, they were willing to make a symbolic statement as long as there was no real sacrifice involved.

But LA decided not to make their political statement against Arizona, because the thought of rolling blackouts or brownouts in the hot LA summer was too much to bear.

Or to look at another way, it’s easy to make a political statement if there are no real consequences to such a statement.

The last time I set foot in California was in the early 1980s.The only way I'll ever set foot in the state again in my life is if I'm on a flight that stops there.

Florida,OTOH,I visit yearly and will continue to do so...and I always bring my wallet with me.

Maybe they’ll pass a law that their liberal residents cannot move to these banned states.

We’ve seen too many moving to Texas....I guess it’s GS/lefties attempts to try to turn Texas blue.

A big win for OK. They stood up for the right principle and in addition keep some nuts, fruits, and flakes from coming to their state.

They of course said it wouldn’t alter UCLA playing at OU this year and the return game in Los Angeles next yes. Can’t pass up that money. Lol.
Texas and Tennessee on the list too by the way.

Hopefully soon all 49 states will be no go zones for California politicians and state workers. I’d call that a huge win.

Why not just build the wall around California and cede it to Mexico. I’m sure the liberal elites would be thrilled.

Oklahoma dodged a bullet. They can’t do business with California. Last time I checked, Oklahoma is an oil producing state. Maybe they stop oil shipments to California.

Actually, the mayor and city council members wanted to keep their jobs.
