As such, centrists are on the right, and conservatives are far right. The orthodox are simply insane.

Doesn't the EU have "hate speech" laws on the books? In theory, that gives them the authority to throw people into prison or into psychiatric hospitals for questioning multiculturalism and opposing mass immigration.
We aren't too far away from having the same here. Political correctness aims to discredit the opposition by declaring it the result of mental illness - a strategy dating back to Theodore Adorno's "authoritarian personality" thesis (basically a bunch of Freudian mumbo-jumbo asserting that normal, traditional behavior is actually pathological). France most certainly IS a NATO member. Have been since 1949.
