RALEIGH, N.C. — North Carolina House Speaker Tim Moore on Friday invited President Donald Trump to give his usually annual, but this year maybe-canceled, State of the Union address in Raleigh.
The speaker's office said Moore, R-Cleveland, wrote to Trump two days after U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi asked Trump to cancel his address to Congress because of the ongoing partial government shutdown.

It is the President’s “statement” of the “State” of the Union. I vote that he proceed in giving the address. . .even if from the White House. The country does not need the drama of those with their own personal agenda!
Senate or White House, if Pelosi remains firm in not allowing the SOTU in the House.

This is a great moment to reinforce the movement to take back control of our country. What better symbolic statement at this moment than to bring the “State of the Union” address out into the heartland. I don’t want to see all those Congressional blowhards posturing on camera anymore.
The constitution only requires that the President report to Congress “from time to time” — it never said that there had to be the fancy SofU address in front of Congress, which only evolved from Woodrow Wilson onward.
Let POTUS Trump bring the SofU address TO THE PEOPLE in one format or another, as he better than anyone will choose.

President Trump should go to the House and deliver his state of the union report. Walk in and take charge. Those that disrupt and prevent his presentation should be physically escorted out. That is the people’s house and does not belong to Pelosi... sit down and shut up. TRUMP IS THE PRESIDENT.
