WASHINGTON — House Democrats are putting forward a new proposal to end the government shutdown, aiming to lure President Donald Trump away from his demand for a border wall by offering billions of new dollars for other border security measures.
The offer is a possible path toward a compromise even though it does not have the money the president wants for building the wall between the U.S and Mexico.
The Democratic proposal is expected to go beyond the $1.6 billion the White House initially requested from Congress for border security, before Trump demanded $5.7 billion for his long-promised wall. The proposal is still being drafted.
The government shutdown hasn’t been as catastrophic as played up. Over a month now, and it is a big fat yawn except in the leftist media. You are right, not time to give in.

Perhaps the next step will come today - maybe Mitch will grow a pair and go nuclear in order to have the Senate pass the wall bill. That won’t get us anywhere, but at least it will lay the blame for inaction squarely on the Housebitch.

I think it will be fascinating (and illustrative to our points here as conservatives) to see how complaints, crime, and illegal traffic go up at unprotected areas as the border wall pieces are built and funnel illegals into other areas.
I regret the rise in crime that will be inevitable in places that the illegals get funneled into, but I think we have to go through that phase.
It might even have an overall saluatory effect on getting other pieces built as those newly affected areas may push for their own section of the wall to be built.

I think you’re exactly right.
I agree with deploying 21st century technologies and would forgo a wall, as long as the proposal included self-guiding bullets from auto-turrents (don’t want to waste good ammo), smart land mines (protect animal life, PETA would be proud) and then auto-taggers that shoot people attempting to cross with paintballs filled with nanoparticle RFIDs so the invaders could be tracked by a backup incendiary micro-missile system!

Let’s start with the rats trying to turn border security into the police department. Nothing they will propose will stop an illegal crossing. The technology will just report in real time that someone has crossed.
It’s like being murdered. Police will arrive at the scene after the crime has been reported.
If there is not a strong physical barrier, there is no security.

POTUS isn’t buckling. The useless GOP doesn’t want a wall either. He’s a POTUS without a party.
Electronic security doesn’t stop anyone from coming in. It just lets you know someone did.

The Democrats would spend about 100 millions of it which would go toward their favorite Democrat business to provide over price stuff like drones and cameras and then they would pocket the rest like they have been doing for many years, nothing new.

Just logging on to say the same thing. Typical democrat move. Just like they’re against freedom of choice on everything and anything..your money, speech, health care, etc. EXCEPT killing babies in the womb then they’re all for freedom of choice there.
