While I completely agree with you that tearing down the confederate flags and monuments was idiotic bigotry there was still a small (very small) rational defense to it as tacit support of slavery. Of course that completely flew in the face of reality and showed how ignorant these people were but I had always hoped it was temporary, silly emotionalism and pandering.
