A 2005 Supreme Court ruling states that the police do not have a constitutional duty to protect citizens.

A $10 million study conducted by the Obama administration concluded that firearms used for self-defense are an important crime deterrent and that restrictions on gun ownership do not reduce gun violence.

The right to bear arms is based on three English Common Law rights that existed in 1607:

The right of group self preservation.

These English Common Law rights are the basis for the interpretation of the Constitution of the United States.

The Code of of many states including the Commonwealth of Virginia, states that the common law of England is in full force and effect as it existed in 1607 and is not repealed by statute.

For everyone in those commie blue states, this is what a Virginia gun show looked like in January, 2020. They're not too certain what it's going to look like later this year, so BLOAT up.

BTW, I don't know how someone was able to get away with taking these photos. All the gun shows I've been to all say "No Photography." I'm guessing the pictures are all from Richmond since the article is posted in the "Local" section of the RTD, and Richmond had a gun show this weekend. That's Annette from ShowMasters Gun Shows in the 10th picture, by herself.

If you look closely, you will see a number of people wearing the ubiquitous orange VCDL stickers.

That's a pretty big "except" there. EXCEPT WHERE MODIFIED BY STATUTE. -- Virginia is a common-law State, except where modified by statute. Carey v. Foster, 221 F. Supp. 185 (E.D. Va. 1963), aff'd, 345 F.2d 772 (4th Cir. 1965).

I was at our local gun show here in Longmont, Co. this weekend and it was the best one I’ve seen in years. The background check guy was swamped.

All those guns in a crowded space! How the heck did anyone survive?

Years ago (when I was dating my wife ;^), I took here to a gun show. IIRC, as we were driving over I told her, "Honey, you may find it boring, but a gun show is about the safest place on the planet for a young lady!"

If you are referring to the closeup, where a man wearing a tan shirt, black ball cap bearing an image of a classic-Greek style helmet and short sword above a five-point star, and spectacles, looking to the image’s right, holding a 20-dollar bill in his left hand resting on the wood butt of a mounted gun, with a linked belt of ammunition draped over the butt just ahead of his left little finger—

The gun is not an M60.

It appears to be an MG3. A modernized version of the MG42 used by the Wehrmacht during WW2. MG3s chambered 7.62 NATO and that is what the belted stuff looks like. Too short for 7.92 Mauser, MG42’s original chambering.

The image appears distorted, or the fellow is displaying a number of subscale replicas:

To his lower right, partially obscured by the blurry fingers of his right hand, is what looks like a US M1919A4 machine gun. In actuality, it’s comparable in size to an MG3, but looks smaller here.

Near the extreme left of the mage, to the right and behind the M1919A4, is a Soviet RPD. To its right sits an M1918A2 BAR. None of their relative sizes look right.
