Sanders climbs, now tied with Biden among registered voters: Reuters poll

NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders has been steadily climbing in popularity this year and is now tied with former Vice President Joe Biden for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination among registered voters, according to a Reuters/Ipsos national poll.

The online poll, released Thursday, shows that 20% of registered Democrats and independents said they would back Sanders over 11 other candidates to run in the general election against President Donald Trump, an increase of 2 percentage points from a similar poll that ran last week.

Another 19% supported Biden, 12% said they would vote for Senator Elizabeth Warren, 9% backed former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and 6% said they would support Pete Buttigieg, the former mayor of South Bend, Indiana.

Sanders and Bloomberg have increased their level of support in each of the last three Reuters/Ipsos polls starting in mid-December, while support for Biden, Warren and Buttigieg has remained flat.

The poll also shows that about one in five potential primary voters remain undecided. And among those who have picked, nearly two out of three say they are open to changing their minds.

Sanders, an independent who built a national network of fervent supporters while running for the party’s nomination in 2016, has consistently ranked among the most popular candidates since he entered the race.

The poll shows that standing does not appear to have been hurt by his recent confrontation with Warren over Sanders’ views of women and politics.

Warren, who is aligned with Sanders on a variety of issues, has accused him of telling her in 2018 that a woman could not be elected president. Sanders disputes that claim, and the two sniped at each other after this week’s presidential debate about how they were framing the conversation in public.

One should Never trust a RV poll but when it’s a rat versus another rat maybe you can. The danger with Bernie getting the nom would be the down ballot damage. I don’t see the old commie beating Trump but Soros spends a lot of money on key down ballot races.

Yep, particularly for positions that can do maximum damage to America (e.g., District Attorneys, Secretaries of State).

Biden still leading in most polling. Democrats are desperate to try to look normal, the eventual split between normals and nuts will hopefully be epic.

Trump beats any of them, for now he just has to survive the trial and the next investigation without massive damage.

yet another single-poll clickbait article ... RCP poll average has Biden ahead nationally by 8 points

https://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2020/president/us/2020_democratic_presidential_nomination-6730.html

however, biden and bernie are basically in a statistical tie in iowa, new hampshire, nevada and california, but biden is WAY ahead in south carolina, texas ...

nonetheless, other than bragging rights (still worth something regarding fund-raising), marginally “winning” in any state doesn’t amount to much since delegates in ALL Democrat primaries and caucuses are allocated proportionally ...

If he does, I hope Project Veritas has a whole lot more of undercover stuff.

And the Republicans should be playing it day and night on ads and show the DNC leadership and Sanders running away from questions about it.

Unless they do something more forceful to stop him, its going to be Sanders.

Biden, Warren, the goofy mayor, hold their meet-ups in conference rooms with a couple dozen people. Sanders is the only one with actual enthusiastic crowds. Not like a Trump rally, but actual enthusiasm from actual crowds.

The Biden/Warren/goofymayor rallies are snoozers where hardly anyone shows up.

The senators who were running for president should all recuse for their obvious conflict of interest.

The Republicans don't give a damn. As long as they can work their schemes, continue to collect their graft and under the table money, they are more than happy to allow the Democrats and other Socialists to be in control. That is one reason that they hate President Trump. He is drying up the sources of their graft and under the table money.

Therefore if he is removed from Office, the only tears they shed will be tears of joy.

Biden will be nominated and then destroyed by the President of Ukraine with overwhelming evidence of high level democrat corruption

The Biden’s, the Obama’s, the Pelosi’s and the Kerry’s will all go down

Wouldn't surprise me if this was the reason for Pelosi's delay in sending the articles of impeachment. Time the trial to the Iowa Caucus.

Perhaps, but I’ve seen no evidence that Romney is in any way involved with the Ukranian corruption
