I don’t think he can physically do it - although I know people will suggest he try.

If we’re to follow the “we have to be safe crowd - government save us!” This is a natural progression of the quarantine.

But aside from ordering the military to enact checkpoints on the interstate at state lines (which is federal property, btw) you can’t block ALL the roads that cross the state lines.

But then I’m the one saying government mandated shutdowns of private business an overreaction and being called an idiot.

Now these same people are suddenly afraid of martial law?

That might be a tough bill of goods to sell around here with a lot of people having been misled and lulled into a sense of false security (while the world at large was overtaken by this over the last six weeks), some treating this pandemic as a hoax or even a joke at times.

FR is archived forever.

But a single payer country like Italy where the government has decided not to treat the elderly is pretty much guaranteed to become a charnal house.

This is one of the reasons many Freepers refused to vote for Mitt Romney, much to the consternation of the people here who wanted them some socialized government healthcare and insisted that people who voted for an American Constitutionalist instead really wanted Obama.

Living a bit north of the Mason-Dixon this could get dicey for all the Baltimoron commuters.

Respectfully, I think the threat is BS. The panic is overblown and we need to relax.

I am surprised some of the Governors have not done this while they are shutting other things down.

Even if it were the best idea ever, it would require a constitutional amendment.

There was one person who tested positive at CPAC. Everyone who was in contact with that person self quarantined until the 14 days past contact were up. Not one became sick.

This is so overblown. Restaurants closing. Threat of not allowing travel. We have become sheeple.

If Trump lets himself be suckered into this, there won’t be much point in leaving the house on 04 November 2020.

Tom Clancy wrote about this very thing in Executive Orders! Iran was the protagonist and an aerosol version of Ebola was the disease.

Clancy’s fictional President Ryan shut down U.S. interstate travel and effectively killed the epidemic in two weeks.

That was not a popular decision, and if President Trump shuts down interstate travel, it will not be popular either.

HST, if he effectively ends the Communist Chinese Coronavirus Pandemic, in two weeks, it will become a very popular move, and President Trump will be a hero!

IIRC, the phrase “The Constitution is not a suicide pact!” was an argument that the fictional President Ryan used to justify his travel ban.

Wikipedia has a good article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Constitution_is_not_a_suicide_pact

” ‘The Constitution is not a suicide pact’ is a phrase in American political and legal discourse. The phrase expresses the belief that constitutional restrictions on governmental power must be balanced against the need for survival of the state and its people.”

Sorry, what you’re selling, I’m not buying. Maybe you can try in Italy?

Idaho got their first from a New York conference attendee returning home. We are no longer in the final four of March Madness.

Thanks for putting it out there Matt.

Ascribe to it what you will, but it’s the numbers that are.

Restaurants in Ohio are not closing, they are being limited to take out and drive through. The idea is to limit large numbers of people sitting down in one place.

Our best hospitals are the best in the world.

But I would put Milan’s average hospital against public hospitals in East LA, St. Louis or Baltimore any day.

Don’t bet on America’s “magic air” to save us from Italy’s fate.

The younger generation does not give a shit. As far as they are concerned, killing all the older generation is necessary to save the world anyhow. Plus they’ve been told that it doesn’t harm young people.

I have teenagers. Their attitude regarding this pandemic is chilling
