Sanders raises eyebrows with move to amass delegates for convention ‘influence,’ lack of Biden backing

Sen. Bernie Sanders on Wednesday suspended his presidential campaign and acknowledged that “Vice President Biden will be the nominee.”

But the populist firebrand from Vermont made it crystal clear that his name will remain on the Democratic primary ballot going forward.

“I will stay on the ballot in all remaining states and continue to gather delegates,” the senator said while announcing the end of his presidential bid. “We must continue working to assemble as many delegates as possible at the Democratic convention where we will be able to exert significant influence over the party platform and other functions.”

Sanders has always stressed that his two presidential campaigns were more than just that - that they were a political revolution.

And on Wednesday, the senator emphasized that “while this campaign is coming to an end, our movement is not ... the fight for justice is what our campaign has been about. The fight for justice is what our movement remains about.”

Bernie insisted he will remain on the Democratic primary ballot. “The fight for justice is what our campaign has been about. The fight for justice is what our movement remains about. I will stay on the ballot in all remaining states and continue to gather delegates. We must continue working to assemble as many delegates as possible at the Democratic convention where we will be able to exert significant influence over the party platform and other functions.”

There's another Bernie fund-raising letter ready to go......he knows the suckers supporting him are gonna open their wallets wide for that one.

Bernie's sucker list will keep him in style for years to come. His multiple fund-raising letters lamenting his losing (already at the printer), are ready to go.

He's already raised $75 million....that he gets to keep.

I anyone really surprised? Bernie is a grumpy old man-child and if he doesn’t get his way then he pouts.

“... the populist firebrand from Vermont ...”

Populist? Is THAT what they’re calling the old Bolshevik lunatic now?

Dear Fox News: Bernie’s not a Populist; he’s a commie. He was a commie yesterday, and he’ll STILL be a commie tomorrow. Get it right.

Used to be able to count on Fox News to tell it like it is. Guess that’s not the case anymore.

the populist firebrand

Populist? Why not call him what he really is? A socialist. He won't deny it.

And if Bernie doesn’t release his delegates? What power does he think he has?

I heard him say at the time of suspension that they would have a hand in shaping the platform.

A battle is coming, war was declared

He is the Overton Window installer of the last 5 years. He made an insane narrative popular enough to be within a whisker of turning the US into Venezuela. The effects of his insanity will be felt until people wake up from their stupor. Then it can swing back to the sanity currently embodied in the MAGA voters.

Maybe it’s all been kabuki theater to make the Green Party Communist voters feel that they have a seat at the table.
