What matters is the total deaths over the span of the epidemic, which depends mainly on whether the healthcare system gets overwhelmed. So far the Swedish healthcare system hasn’t been overwhelmed and it looks increasingly likely that it won’t be. If this holds, then Sweden chose the right strategy.
