The National Football League announced it will play what is known as the Black national anthem before every Week 1 game, ESPN reported exclusively.
The sports network also reports that the league is considering a plan to add the names of victims of police brutality to the uniforms of players through decals on helmets or patches on jerseys.
The NFL also may produce educational programs about victims, ESPN reported.
I didnt know there were two national anthems a white and black national anthem. No matter. The NFL can screw itself.https://t.co/KUnUdEsHIH

It is unclear if fans would be expected to stand at attention during the singing of Lift Evry Voice And Sing. The Star-Spangled Banner would follow, ESPN reported.
Black communities across the globe continue to be vulnerable in very unique and unsettling ways, UCLA professor Shana Redmond told NPR in 2018. To sing this song is to revive that past but also to recognize, as the lyrics of the song reveal, that there is a hopeful future that might come of it.
Lift Every Voice And Sing, commonly known as the Black national anthem, is expected to be performed live or played before every Week 1 NFL game ESPN

In June the NFL announced it was pledging $250 million over 10 years to combat systemic racism and support the battle against the ongoing and historic injustices faced by African-Americans, Bleacher Report noted.

All will be long forgotten once the points start rolling in for everyone’s fantasy football team! Bank on it!
Lift evry voice and sing,
Til earth and heaven ring,
Ring with the harmonies of Liberty;
Let our rejoicing rise
High as the listning skies,
Let it resound loud as the rolling sea.
Sing a song full of the faith that the dark past has taught us,
Sing a song full of the hope that the present has brought us;
Facing the rising sun of our new day begun,
Let us march on til victory is won.
Stony the road we trod,
Bitter the chastening rod,
Felt in the days when hope unborn had died;
Yet with a steady beat,
Have not our weary feet
Come to the place for which our fathers sighed?
We have come over a way that with tears has been watered,
We have come, treading our path through the blood of the slaughtered,
Out from the gloomy past,
Til now we stand at last
Where the white gleam of our bright star is cast.
God of our weary years,
God of our silent tears,
Thou who has brought us thus far on the way;
Thou who has by Thy might
Led us into the light,
Keep us forever in the path, we pray.
Lest our feet stray from the places, our God, where we met Thee,
Lest, our hearts drunk with the wine of the world, we forget Thee;
Shadowed beneath Thy hand,
May we forever stand,
True to our God,
True to our native land.
Let the 13 percent who they kneel to pay the bills SHUT THEM OFF!
haha!
The Negro Football League is thoroughly Africanized with stock that would have been prized by the early 19th century breeders
“True to our native land.”
Africa?
The last line of the “anthem”...
“True to our native land.”
Sounds like Africa to me.
Good question.
Gag me with spoon.
” Folks will always find something else to do especially when they see something that is definitely anti-America.”
I left the NFL behind when the kneeling began as an endorsed insult to our great nation. It’s ironic that the league has its operational foundations built on a master-servant system.
The reality is we are in a culture war which is going to determine the future viability of our country. We have to recognize that a large majority of our young people have been indoctrinated through taxpayer public education in anti-American history, and many were not taught critical thinking skills.
So now there are 2 national anthems?
This will go a long way to “unifying” us....
NFL? Who is NFL?
Africans are not Americans
Caveat....... a minority can still claim to be American
Political commentary
omg
%^&* these people and %^&* the NFL.
What is this “NFL” thing you speak off?
Don’t bother anyone with clear logic and details. The anti-Americans aren’t interested in a dialogue - just power through destruction. But the root of the problem is with the “leaders” of this country who are enabling the lawlessness ... it is not in their neighborhoods (yet) ...not defending our country’s values, institutions, the rule of law, the Constitution, the rights of all Americans to be free and secure.
(By the way, when and why did you escape from Boston? You aren’t a Yankees fan or something like that?)
....noticed your comments and tagline too ...
“Diversity is our strength” = “Division is our Strength” which is illogical. E pluribus unum apparently is too American for these Anti-American power grabbers.
The NFL just proved they could outdo the Babylon Bee.
Soon to be: “Non-existent Football League”.
