Kindness Yoga called out: Weakened by coronavirus, 9 studios close after Instagram campaign exposes rift over race
The Colorado Sun (via Instapundit) ^ | 06/29/20 | Jennifer Brown

Patrick Harrington is sitting on a rock high on a hilltop...his head in his hands.

The owner of Kindness Yoga, and one of the most well-known yogis in Denver, is struggling to piece together the words to explain what happened — in the span of a week — to his once-stellar reputation and his 19-year-old business. He is stunned, though remorseful. He is eager to speak up, yet on edge for fear of saying anything that could make all of this any worse.

Harrington, a straight, white guy who expanded Kindness to nine studios and 160 employees across metro Denver, announced last week that he was closing them all after a handful of yoga teachers, including a Black woman and a transgender man, called out Kindness on social media for “performative activism” and “tokenization of Black and brown bodies.” The teachers’ public comments, following a Black Lives Matter post on Kindness’ Instagram page that they termed too little, too late, evoked a backlash that was fierce and immediate.

”My goal is to represent our attempts at being a diverse, inclusive place where people felt like they belonged,” he begins, slowly. “I may not say things perfectly … I’m practicing learning how to speak in a way that is more inclusive and caring of diversity.”....

Thank you for posting this.

I’m halfway thru the article now. People need to read this: no matter what this lib leftie owner did all he got in return was a buzzer sound of WRONG ANSWER.

And the gall of that one now former employee to solicit donations on Twitter for “Reparations.”

We would have thought this article was satire not too long ago...

I think I see the problem.

I sympathize with anyone losing his lively hood.

But, it’s yoga. The target audience is all about feelz. In the current climate there is no way to out feelz the feelz crowd.

well intentiined

i would say for himself, yes

libtards live their views

so comsider the money he makes goes towards libtard causes we despise and are destroying america

i say let them suffer the fate they’ve desired for all of us

they all thinkthey’re special and exempt from their own ‘rules’ and never think they could be applied to them

the ‘kindness’ and ‘niceness’ of liberals is almost always just a thin veneer over hatred and anger and jealousy, and self-hatred because they know deep down they are sh1tty peoplemwho can’t really do anything others find important enough to pay them well for. insecurity abounds and they take it out on everyone else, blaming society and whatever else for their own failings and shortcomings.

The left has a tendency when unchecked to start eating their own.

It’s kinda like burning the elk sculpture in Portland. It’s not that it’s racist, it’s just that they ran out of racist things to destroy so just moved onto something else that was a sculpture.

Digital burning down of a business is not all that different than burning it in person. ‘My business is destroyed.’ Nope, you have an opportunity to reinvent your business (which you probably needed to do anyway, because, well, COVID.)

Curious how these businesses will fare with the obvious lack of intelligence the new owners possess.

Basic management would tell every business to get rid of bad apples immediately...

The real problem here is that the bad apples were in two protected classes. It is much harder to fore a black or LBGTQ person than an ordinary bad apple.

I read this and the insanity factor is so high I can not possibly understand even what the complaints were. But I suspect that when these malcontents try to run a business on "black principles" as opposed to generally recognized accounting standards they will not be particularly successful. I would love to see a video of their meeting with an IRS agent.

I am thankful I am a retired scientist & engineer. If the thing I invent works and is cost-effective, I win. If it doesn't work or is too expensive, try again.

Nobody is well-intentioned when they vote for a party that fights for abortions

I’m not a zealot.

Qq But that’s a pretty easy one

It is racketeering the same interstate shakedown that Al Sharpton used to threaten companies with. Pay me protection money and allegiance or I will get the angry mob to destroy your business.

Look at how twitterbots have successfully eliminated major advertisers from sponsoring conservative talk radio. Unusual thing I’ve discovered lately, many of those same sponsors ARE roundabout sponsoring ‘talk radio’ these days via the iheartradio streams online. The advertising is different than the local market advertisers and iheartradio/livenation/clear channel is a billion dollar (in debt) corporation that plays “the game”.

>>This was a mere business competitor assassination.

I’ve seen this with other businesses in my city, and they’ve used the same tactics

“Something must be done. We must figure out what that is. I haven’t seen a good idea yet, sorry to say it.”

There is only one way to defeat these vile bastards. We must organize like they do, better in fact and take them on. There are many more of us than them. We just need to show up and make our presence felt.

They want to cancel us and deplatform us - we can play the same game - let’s cancel them. It will take huge protests on our part. The question is do we have the will to do it?
