Here’s how stimulus checks could cost Americans in the long run
New York Post ^ | September 17, 2020 | Noah Manskar

Massive federal spending meant to blunt the coronavirus’s economic impact could have long-term costs, experts say — meaning those stimulus checks might not be free money after all.

Congress’s unprecedented stimulus measures coupled with the Federal Reserve’s aggressive efforts to shore up the economy could drive up inflation in the coming years, leaving Americans with less purchasing power over time, according to reports.

Lawmakers have approved about $4 trillion in coronavirus-related stimulus spending, according to the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, while the Fed has injected trillions more into the financial markets and cut interest rates to near zero.

An opinion piece....So what are the alternatives??

Let people get thrown out on the streets...starve the children...

Bad enough that govs like Cuomo have shut down the economy in NYS....

thanks to the indisputable expert Dr. Fauci....who stood shoulder to armpit with the President...FOR MONTHS....and no one in the whole group of "experts" including Fauci wore a mask.

The stimulus checks will be good for people who use them wisely. For those who are unwise, well...

Much of the funding for other things, by the way, will cause the most trouble.

The same argument can be made for welfare payments. As a country, it’s pissing away money. No return on this “investment”.

More drug overdoses in ER.

Me if I got a check, I’d start a chinchilla farm.

Anyone with an IQ above room temperature realizes that the stimulus is a debt that all Americans will have to pay in one way or another.

But there was no other choice.

The stimulus is somewhat analogous to the various relief programs from the great depression era...but on steroids.

The alternative would be FAR worse than what Trump was forced to do.

IMO, the entire Covid-19 disaster can be placed at the feet of the CCP and various liberal factions in the United States and elsewhere....YES, I believe it has all been a manufactured crisis aimed at ridding the leftists of Trump.

Trump is the champion of all good Americans, they aimed this disaster at us, not just at Trump.

There are trillions at stake.

The next few months will be a $hitshow like we have never witnessed before :-/

It is time for all good men to put on the full armor of God.

The spending is inflationary.

But COVID-19 has also been deflationary. For one example, what has happened to the value of just New York City real estate (including Trump's) and how long will it take to recover (if ever)?

Maybe if the markets and people acted normally. We are long past that, as are many other countries.

I'm betting that the plan is keep piling on the debt, and wait for the right candidate. Then, we'll end up shifting to a global currency courtesy of the IMF and all debts wil be forgiven as a one-tim3 reset. Just look how many countries in Europe willingly gave up their sovereignty to the EU.

So, right before this important election after all this spending, in the midst of a pandemic, they want to turn off the spigot. Obviously, runaway spending is a huge problem, but the timing is moronic.

I’ll ask my four year old grandson if he’s good with us getting the stimulus checks. After all, he’s the guy we’re all assuming will pay the note. Mine and my wife’s checks went into a trust fund we have for the grandkids.

The stimulus checks weren’t intended to help the recipients of those checks. They were intended to help the businesses who relied on those people as customers.

What about those of us, already carrying the majority of the burden, paid for those who did get one and didn't get one ourselves?

Trickle up economics, you know. Customers spend, and the money trickles back up to investors. ;)

Seriously, though, look at where the other funding will go. The Democrats want a much more monstrous funding package that would go to Democrat political influence.

The next time there is a Democratic Party President, and unfortunately there will be a NEXT TIME, they will raise our taxes by 3 to 4 Trillion dollars.

And I guarantee, they will use the stimulus as an excuse.

meaning those stimulus checks might not be free money after all.

It was never free money, just like bailing out student loans is not free money. ALL of these reckless spending programs will be a financial burden to the people that pay taxes in this country.
