PITTSFIELD (WGME) -- Senator Susan Collins says she will vote against Judge Amy Coney-Barrett being elected to the Supreme Court.
Sen. Collins releases statement on Supreme Court Vacancy "It's not a comment on her,” Collins said. “It is a comment on the process of rushing through a nomination in such a short time before a presidential election."
Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski also said she will be a no vote for the same reason.
To block the confirmation, two more senators would have to vote against Coney-Barrett, but Republicans have said they have the votes.
The people of Maine are just stupid!!

I get the impression she’s in a purple state, and that’s why she’s so wishy washy. Might be this is how her constituency rolls.
Collins IS standing for what she believes in and that is abortion on demand.
She said before she voted for Kavanaugh that it was because he would uphold Roe and now she’s voting against Barrett because she won’t.
Senate, not House.
Half the state voted for Trump. Pandering to the left will not win her reelection. You can never out-left the Demonrats. They are committed to her opponent and no amount of trying to throw them a bone will change that. Pissing off a majority of your own base voters to appease radical leftists that will NEVER vote for you is counterintuitive and unbelievably stupid. She’s acting like she wants to lose, and with this, she’s telling a majority of those who would vote for her that she’s not voting for an eminently qualified judicial candidate that the base absolutely wants to see confirmed.

Very well said. I agree with your post in its entirety. I have noted before that Trump is one part Reagan, one part Andy Jackson, and one part Harry Truman. I then said that I wish Trump had more Reagan in him.
Most folks here did not agree. “Trump gotta be Trump.” Well, okay. But it doesn’t necessarily follow that that’s a good thing.
Trump needed - and needs - a close adviser who can temper his off-the-cuff remarks.
Regardless, Donald Trump is THE last hope for this Republic. As you noted, if he loses a Dark Age will follow.
Before telling us what President Trump is doing wrong, these unprincipled republicans should look in the mirror.
If she had been more supportive of POTUS, perhaps her lagging behind a really faulty opponent wouldn’t be a problem.

Thanks for the phone number to her DC office. Left a verbal message to encourage her to vote for Judge Barrett. I’m one of her constituents. Sadly, Collins is often on the wrong side of any issue...but she is leaps and bounds ahead of the democrat opponent, every time. Lord, please return Maine to its conservative, Christ centered roots.

The First CD district in the southeast corner of Maine is the “dermocrat” area.
CD 2, 80% of the state of Maine, is purple.
President Trump carried the 2nd district by 10 points in 2016 for one electoral vote.
Collins pisses me off, but I will vote for her. Collins voted for the majority of Trump’s judicial picks, including Gorsuch and Kavanaugh, as well as the Trump tax cuts. The RAT challenger, Maine House Speaker Sarah Gideon, is a leftist with an AOC-like little girls voice. She would have voted NO on all of the above.
Plus, I want the GOP to keep control of the Senate. Chuckie Schumer as Senate majority leader is unacceptable.

I was going to donate to her. Not now. Instead I sent that $$ to John James, who is now in a dead heat race, he made up a 10 pt gap!!
She can get all of her campaign $$ from Mitch....who should immediately remove her from ANY/ALL committee assignments, for making this obtuse statement.
I know two guys from Massachusetts....one a forester and one owns a home heating business. Both are conservatives.
The First district is liberal.
The Second district....80% of the state....is more conservative. The president carried this district by 10 points in 2016.

If she loses, the Senate may be in jeopardy.
I don’t want president Trump to have a democrat controlled Senate with Chuckie Schumer at the helm.
